Here is my public service announcement for the day.

The Chicken Dance, performed at DJ dances, wedding receptions, and Bar Mitzvahs across the country should be banned as a hazardous activity.

    Here's the story...

We (my girlfriend and I, with my best friend and her kids) went on our yearly camping trip to Emerald Isle this weekend. Aside from the fact that it stormed Thursday night, Friday night, and rained on Saturday, the trip was fun, if uneventful until.

    Then came Saturday night.

As usual for the campground where we stay, there is a dance on Saturday nights (this particular Saturday it was a DJ supplying the music). Everyone was having fun dancing to a wide variety of music, including the ubiquitous "Cha Cha Slide" Then came the Chicken Dance. As the song got faster and faster, suddenly my girlfriend grabbed her knee and started trying to hop to the steps.

To make a long story not quite as long, she thought she had popped her knee out and we ended up transporting her via golf cart to our trailer. After a bit of time, it seemed that her pain was getting worse and we ended up calling EMS who took her to Carteret General. The doctors there took some x-rays and gave her a leg brace and sent her back to the camp ground.

We got back yesterday and was able to get her in to see an doctor at Raleigh Orthopaedics who said she probably tore a ligament and is having her go to therapy and will be giving her an MRI.

At any rate, she's now on crutches and sore, but otherwise good.

But, please, if you happen to be dancing and someone starts playing the Chicken Dance, I'd advise you to sit it out. It's DANGEROUS!!!

They're going to put a computer downstairs for her. Personally I think she should sue them to put in an elevator under ADA, but that's just my opinionj. :)

It's true. Every time we go anywhere of any distance, something happens. It got to the point where I was referring to our trips and Griswald adventures. :)
