Was Thomas Wolfe right? You really can't go home again?

At the end of Thomas Wolfe's novel You Can't Go Home Again, the protagonist, George Webber, realized, "You can't go back home to your family, back home to your childhood, ... back home to a young man's dreams of glory and of fame ... back home to places in the country, back home to the old forms and systems of things which once seemed everlasting but which are changing all the timeā€”back home to the escapes of Time and Memory."

I say Wolfe is wrong, because I can "go home again" with the many memories that I have that are brought forward by a song, a smell, a conversation with someone, pictures, etc.

My faith keeps me earnestly looking to the future when I will finally meet my Savior and spend Eternity in Heaven, so I don't dwell on the past, but I sure do love taking a journey back to the past in my mind, especially with my friends.

This morning I met with 3 of my childhood buddies for breakfast, as we often do, and we always bring up episodes of our youth with tons of laughter as we take that walk down memory lane.

Do any of you get together on a regular basis with life-long friends and take a similar journey?

Is there some place special you like to meet?

Just thought this would be a good topic to throw out.
