Fayetteville — A Fayetteville couple was killed Monday when they were struck by a car that went out of control in a shopping center parking lot, police said.
The incident occurred at about 11:40 a.m. outside the Wal-Mart Supercenter at 4601 Ramsey St., police said.
Richard A. Myers, 63, and his wife, Christine Myers, 59, of 235 Prince Charles Drive, were leaving the automotive area of the store when they were struck by a Mercury Grand Marquis driven by Lynn Bremer, 48, of 1100 Clarendon St. Apt. 610, police said.
Bremer apparently suffered a medical condition that caused her to lose control of the vehicle and speed through the lot, clipping a pole before striking the couple, police said.
The Myerses were taken to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center, where they were pronounced dead.
Bremer also was taken to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. There was no word on her condition Monday afternoon.
The accident remains under investigation, and no charges have been filed yet, police said.

    Poor family.
