We just had someone come into our parking lot and smash 2 car windows and steal a lady's purse. In broad daylight!!!

We're on Hwy. 70 in Garner near Carolina Barbecue.

Wow! And you're right down the road from me too.

I have a really bad habit of leaving my purse in the car, and just grabbing my wallet out of it to take in a store. Guess I need to stop that, huh?

Yep you need to stop that or leave it in the trunk.

I just can't believe that someone would come into a parking lot that is right on the highway like that with people going in and out of the building all the time and smash windows on 2 different cars. They must be very brave.

Well, I can see most of my parking lot from my desk, and I park where I can see my car, so hopefully they won't come here.

Good gracious, desperate times and desperate measures I guess...

Cops just left. Whoever did this was a pro. They left no fingerprints and they turned the lady's cell phone off immediately so it could not be traced. They also got some cars at the building next door to us. They got a laptop and some other stuff from over there.

What a shame that folks are so LOW to do something like that.

If I leave anything in my van, I try not to leave it visible. No sense tempting fate. I hate a theif.

Good to know. Since moving here I've gotten really lax about not having any valuables in the car. I tend to leave my purse and laptop when I go into daycare, and on Friday night even left my laptop on the passenger seat when I went into Trader Joe's. Usually I remember to at least put that into the trunk!

When we lived up north I took the train to work. All the time you would see people walking through the parking lot trying the car doors as they walked by to see if any were left unlocked. If they saw anything valuable, they would break the window. It happened all the time. I once even had someone try my door while I was still in the car!
