Has anybody else had any problems with the gas they purchased from the Hess station on 42? It's the one on the right if headed toward Lowe's Home Improvement. My DH bought a small used Mazda a few weeks ago to drive back and forth to work. His Ford 250 Diesel was killing us!! It ran like a top...then he had to buy gas for it. He got it at the Hess station. It started running rough, cutting out, etc. He changed the fuel filter but still it was doing it. In the mean time, he got more gas from there. Well, it finally cut completely off on him a couple of times. He checked the gas and there was water in it. We have a neighbor who is a master mechanic and has been for years. He couldn't believe how much water was in that gas. They drained the tank & wiped it out good. Then filled it up with different gas. Needless to say it's running like a top again. The Hess station is the only place he has gotten gas since he bought the little Mazda.

    Bren,

We had an old full-sized Bronco that would run like crap if we let the gas tank get too close to empty, as long as we kept it pretty full, it was fine. It had some sort of garbage/water etc in there, but the tank was so big it was cost prohibitive to fix when we first got it. We did get it replaced and our problem was solved. If the car sat any length of time, it could have had some condensation in the tank.

Or, you couda got bad gas!! :jester:

my son got gas from a station near apex once and there was water in the gas and when hendrix dodge in cary got done the repairs it was about 2000.00 dollors. the weights and measures inspector made the station pay for his repairs. the mechanic was the one who saved the gas in a clear container and took it to the place in raleigh for the test. the inspection said that when gas in the tanks at the stations get low and they are being filled up that it can stir up water that is on the botton of the tank. thanks. macy

Wow... This is the ONLY place I get fuel, locally. The people are typically pleasant and they don't have the STUPID $50/$75 limit on the pumps! Those limits NEVER fill my tank (yes it's diesel)! Obviously, I have never had this trouble, else I wouldn't still go there.
