I tried searching for this topic first, but didn't have much luck. I have a 25ft well that was drilled about 40 years ago. It needs some work, specifically filling/sealing the hole where the pipes lead to the pump in the corner of my home. Does anyone recommend a local company that does this work? Thanks.
Ok, so you just need someone to seal the opening on your house crawl space where your water lines run through? If that's all, I can do that myself.
No, I've sealed the crawl space hole. I need the hole in the well sealed. Water is leaving the well through the hole outside and around the pipes. The pipes in the ground are acting as a conduit leading water to my house. Even though the house is sealed, it is still causing problems. My ground water table is so high, I've actually drained the well and watched water fall into the well from the top and where the pipes are located.
You are correct in being worried about the groundwater flowing into your well as it is a potential for contamination you want to avoid. The water should be filter through the soil before entering your active water table. http://extension.missouri.edu/p/WQ675
