Well Drilling Company - Recommendations??? In our ‘ever so slow’ home building project, we are at the Well Drilling stage. Anyone have a GOOD recommendation or a stay away from company. AND About how much did your well cost… all said & done. PM me if you prefer. We are soooo far off the road that I think a line of pipe & the $$$ JoCo hook up will be more expensive than a well. ?? Am I wrong here??? Thanks, Kel
Thank you, HXCforCHRIST. Anyone else ->I know everyone on this board is not on JOCO Water... TIA, Kel
Sorry Kel, mine was drilled when I bought the house. We had some work done to it a few years later, but can't for the life of me remember who did it. Try calling a couple builders and see who they use.
Kel - we already had a water tap that came w/ our land. BUT look up Russell House. He has drilled dozens of wells for my family. I'll have to do some looking to find his number.
We've built two homes with drilled wells. First was with Poole out of Raleigh 24 yrs. ago, would not recommend today, second was with a company I think by the name of Boykin, out of Wilson. Most people start with a set package fee that includes the pump/tank, start up fee for drilling was about $150 than $10 per foot of piping after that. We made an effort to be there when they drilled so that we could see when they hit water, usually they'll recommend going a little further down to make sure they've gotten a good spring and not surface water, this is a good idea. This is just one of those types businesses that can be very shady and could steal you blind if they wanted to. Just remember to be there when they drill. Shop around for pricing/quotes. The last company we used, Boykin out of Wilson said the exact thing about profit and this just seemed to be an honest, hard working guy. Initially he was higher on his package but his statement that every company has a set charge per well without your knowledge just seemed to ring true, also informed us that if they quote you the cheapest price, they'll make up for it by drilling deeper and adding piping. Our well is between 230-250 feet deep, can't remember how many gallons per minute, the first well we drilled was 340 feet deep. Ask the local neighbors how deep their wells are and this could give you an example of what's to come, not exact but some idea. Good luck!
Thanks for the scoop. When M&D dug the well at my vintage brick ranch, say summer of 1963, after the "Home Place" well went dry, they hit GREAT water at a big 37 feet! No one else had dug a well near me since then. We will be on-site for the well drilling as well as Sir Woofs-a-Lot with his Big White Fangs. He really helps with honesty issues.
