We have a daughter going into 10th grade at WJHS and recently learned that 3/4 of the freshman class failed. They were offered summer school. Does anyone know if this is true and if so, why the high rate of failures and what is being done about it?

Wow, a 75% failure rate?!?! That can't be right.

The latest report I saw, shows that West Johnson HS has a 88% graduation rate: http://www.ncpublicschools.org/

I am hoping that Markfnc hit the nail on the head. We will be at the school on the 18th and will find out..

Here is the reply that I got from a reporter who followed up after I contacted them:

I wanted to thank you for reaching out to us.

I contacted the school district and they tell me that 13.38% of ninth graders were eligible for summer school at West Johnston this past summer.

I hope this sets your mind at ease a little.

    Have a good day,

    Carey
