As most people on here probably already know, the WJHS band has been invited to march in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade this year. The Band Parents Association is trying to raise enough money to help with each band member's expenses associated with this trip. My son is a rising freshman who will be going to Macy's, so I'm trying to do my part with the fund raising programs. The BPA has cookbooks, raffle tickets, gift baskets and more for sale. There is a Mile Marker's campaign and there will be car washes and a BBQ/Bingo dinner coming up. Please, as a NC community member, support the band. There aren't many high school bands that get to do this, so please consider this an honor, not only for Johnston County, but for our whole state, and help support the kids. More details are available here: http://www.wjhsbands.org/macys.htm

Now... I have cookbooks and raffle tickets for sale. The cookbooks are $15 each and the raffle tickets are $5 each or 6 for $25. Here is my offer to you, my 4042 friends. :-D Buy 1 cookbook & 1 raffle ticket for $20 and I will buy a 2nd raffle ticket for you. Sounds good? Wait, it gets better! Buy 2 cookbooks and 2 raffle tickets for $40 and I'll buy 2 more raffle tickets for you! Buy 3 cookbooks (think Christmas) and 1 raffle ticket for $50 and I'll buy 3 more raffle tickets for you!!

What are the raffle ticket prizes you ask? Prizes are:

1st Prize: A Nintendo Wii and a game for the Wii!
2nd Prize: A weekend getaway (including $200 in hotel gift cards, $50 in gas gift cards & a $50 restaurant card!)
    3rd Prize: $250 in CASH!

Sounds good, huh? If you want to take me up on this limited-time offer, just send me a PM and we'll work out the details! Thanks in advance! :hurray:

    Updated band support info:

Cookbooks, gift baskets, & raffle tickets will be sold by the BPA at the Raleigh Flea Market on Saturday, Aug. 9 from 7:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m.

Cold Stone's at White Oak is hosting a "Director's Scoop" -- not 100% sure what that means -- on Wednesday, August 13 from 5:30 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. The Pep Band will be playing as well.
Okay, the "Director's Scoop" means the band directors will be taking your orders, and singing too.

Cookbooks, gift baskets, & raffle tickets will be sold by the BPA at the Lowe's Foods 50/42 & at Dunn Gas & Grocery in Four Oaks on Saturday, Aug. 30 from
    9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

Please pass the information along to anyone who may be willing to help support the band. TIA! :)

Also, a big THANK YOU to those of you who have already contacted me and about my cookbook/raffle ticket offer. :-D

Thank you! Cookbooks are $15 each. My little cookbook/raffle ticket offer is detailed in post #1, if you're interested.

I'm the same way with cookbooks, I love them. Don't know why because I seem to always use the same recipes over and over.

PM me with when and where I can deliver to you and we'll finally get to meet! :)

I think alot of that just has to do with our area - its growing SO fast - and of course there are those that just want to be at West, to be in the band. But it is awesome to think how far they've come. Especially for me - since my DS was there at the beginning......boy - had not idea what we were getting into!

Thanks for posting this, Ready. I've been out of touch lately, but I didn't know WJHS band is going to the Macy's parade. Wow! There's the Rose Bowl parade and Macy's; those are like the Super Bowl of marching band events. Shouldn't this be a sticky, so we can keep up on the fund-raising events? I've already missed some, but would like to contribute somehow.

    Congrats, WJHS Marching Band!
