The Physical Education Dept at West Johnston would like to invite everyone out to the WJHS campus on December 8th at 10:00 am to participate in their very first 5k(3.1mi) walk or run. We will be taking registration up until race time. The registration fee is $18 which includes your reg. fee and T-Shirt. This is open to all ages and prizes will be awarded for each age division for our walkers and our runners. The course has been certified and the timing will be by East Carolina Road Runners Assoc. The Health and PE Dept. has really emphasized the importance of fitness and exercise and we decided to do this to give students a chance to use what they have learned in class to participate in an event outside the classroom. They agreed we should open this up to the staff, parents and community members of WJHS to get them moving as well. Please come out and support our students on this date. The run will start on the school's track, continue out of the front entrance of the school and cross Raleigh Road. It continues up Coats-Pleasants Rd to the new carwash and the turn around is in front of Curves. Once you turn around, you will just return to the school on Coats-Pleasants Rd and finish back up on the track. The day of the run/walk the course will be clearly marked with cones and volunteers.
