Ok, yinz know I'm not originally from around here, and this question has been bugging me for a while. No one I talk to seems to know, so I'll ask ya'll.

Those cement posts, with the letters M V stamped in them. What are they? and why? The only thing I can figure out is it may be a Military Veteran's resting grounds, (*civil war era) but I doubt that is the case because they are found everywhere along the roads. Some within feet of each other. So, anyone know what these things are? and why they're where they are?

They are Meter Valves. They are part of the waterline for the subdivision. The Meter Valves are the water meter for the entire subdivision or at least that particular phase or section. They serve several purposes but they are used go get an overall use of water for that subdivision, phase or section.

We once told some neighbors that it meant Must Vacate.
