A bag of switches and a lump of coal? Atleast thats what my dad used to tell us we were getting when we'd bug him by keeping asking :p

Prolly clothes (teenage girl), and maybe a Wii.

My kids aren't really getting toys this year (well, my youngest is, but he's only 3). I take that back. We were going to get both the older ones a DS, but the oldest keeps seeing the commercial for the $80 Tyco R/C dirt bike, and said he wants that more than anything in the world. In fact, he said if that was the only thing under the tree, he'd be happy. So he's getting that instead of the DS. My middle son is getting a DS, and some games to go with it. Oldest also got an mp3 player. We'll probably also get them a new wii game, and they always get some puzzles, books and clothes. The oldest one loves science and bugs/animals, so I want to get him something that goes along with that. He's always catching things outside and doesn't have anything to put them in (he takes my tupperware usually) so I was thinking of finding him some sort of sturdy critter keeper. And that'll be about it this year, it's going to be a small Xmas. But we're going to NY and seeing all the family who'll spoil them, so it'll be worth it.

OH - if anyone sees a store selling a lot of Diego stuff, let me know!! My little one loves Diego, and Walmart and Target have almost nothing. I am not shopping online because I don't want to use my credit card, so I've gotta actually go into a store. I have yet to find a single piece of clothing (for a small 3 yo)

How did everything turn out yesterday? Sorry I had to run off, but didn't want the kids getting into the gifts!

Well we shall see. I have not heard from her yet. It did not click when you said you had Christmas gifts in the car. I was like, "maybe she wants to move closer to the car so nobody takes anything"?. Then on the way home, I was like....oooooooooo, her kids could go snooping. Major blond moment.

My daughter is 8 and I have gotten her to major gifts already, her telescope and her guitar. That is all she said she wanted. The telescope was expensive but it's something that she has been wanting for awhile and I saved up for it. It will give us something else for the both of us to use together cause I wouldn't let her outside with it alone lol. I'm excited for her cause it's all she talks about is the telescope. Last night when everyone was asking her what she wanted it and she was like listen very very carefully and she told them just those two things. It was funny, but my sister was like what else, and she was like you weren't listening where you lol.
I know she is getting some other things, like clothes and a new LL Bean coat and some games for her DS. I'm sure some Wii games as well..just not sure what everyone else is doing..my part is done.
Speaking of the Guitar, does anyone know of someone that has the patients to give her lessons on that thing? It comes with DVD to help teach her but I have a hearing problem and I don't think I would be much help with her learning. Please PM me if you do.
    Thanks,
    Sheri

Funny! Yeah, everything was wrapped in a box, but didn't want them going through them anyway. They didn't know what was in the box, and didn't want them to know. My oldest is very curious (ie. nosy!) and would be in it in a second if he knew!! Hope everything turns out well for you!

We bought my 11 year old step-son a PSP and a couple of games to go with it. We got a really good deal. It also came with a movie. He gets stuff from my parents, his dads side of the family, his mom, and his moms side of the family, so thats about all he's getting from us. Maybe some clothes too since he needs some. He is growing so fast and getting so tall that most of his clothes are too small. I used to go all out for him but most of the stuff he never plays with. I am tired of spending money on things and they sit in his closet forever.

I hear ya! I've learned my kids don't play with toys, I've given almost all of them away. They like to play with cars, puzzles, blocks and electronics (the few they have). That's really it. They tend to entertain each other, they don't need toys. They always get books and puzzles, and I try to find a game they can all play together, or at least 2 of them can play. This year it says ages 3+, so maybe they'll all play. It says the whole family can play. They love Hullaballoo, and I think my mom is getting them twister. I used to love that as a kid!

Would that be the 45 year old husband or 21 year old son who are just "bigger kids." Our son actually said the only thing he really wanted this year was a tent. I said whahooooo!!!!! and then actually started looking at the tents he's talking about. His idea and mine (as far as style) are so off. He's into backpacking and has found a one-person tent that weighs about three pounds - that'll pretty much be it for him once I pay for that.

YEAH! My four legged kids are much easier to buy for than the two legged variety. Much more appreciative too! Mine are getting new beds and some new stuffing for their kong.

I started some shopping early. Starting DD a hope chest this year along with some clothes, a purity ring and some odds and ends. DS, well since he isn't going to be able to be home, everything I have gotten him will be mailed to him to my sister-in-laws house (she is 4 hours away, so he will be there). Got him some things for his dorm room, somethings to cook in the microwave with, from the family we got him a digital camcorder, along with some other odds and ends.

I would forgo everything that "Santa" may bring me if I could just have my son home for the holidays. Already been feeling depressed.

Hey Grinders! Love your avatars! I think they're going to make the movie based on Land of the Lost with Will Ferrell, not sure if the filming wrapped up or still in production. I love the Kroffts' tv shows!

Yes they are. Its going to be a comedy, of course, and totally ruin what few memories some of us have of the Saturday morning cartoon hours. I dont recall that show being a comedy.
