Our tradition is Benson Lake. I went to Cleveland last year and it was okay. I like the big open field at benson lake, playing Frisbee, eating bojangles, going to the kids area, hearing the NC Symphony, and they put on a really big fire works show. This year we are adding an all day cookout and then heading to Benson around 3 or 4.

Just wondering what everyone else does....

The kids and I enjoyed the festivities at Cleveland last year, will probably do that again. I saw a sign for festivities at 'The Grove'. Anyone know where that is? Is that in Benson?

We usually have a pool party in the back yard and have it catered, go to SC and get fireworks, etc. I think we are going to cook chickens this year and still have it, as we are headed to the Outer Banks the 7th for a week :)

I will be sitting my lazy fluffernutter on a dock at the lake, most likely drinking a frosty cold beverage, holding little koo koo puff's ears so she won't be startled while my darling hubby almost blows his face off trying to light the highly explosive fireworks because he's telling kookoo jr to stand back with his mama. Pay attention, dear pay attention.

Aaaah I am so very much in need of vacation!!

We do Lake Benson every year (fun)...and then Cleveland's parade, etc, on the 4th. The evening of the 4th, we do a cookout at a friend's house...my kids would be upset if we messed with tradition and changed any of that!
So, anyone know what the give-away is at the 4042 booth??

Damn.. and I always thought 4th of July was on the 4th of July... I'm confused now. Whats one weekday vs. another weekday.. I could see if the 4th was on a Monday and they planned the celebration for Sunday.. but Tues??? Most people have to work on July 3rd, don't they? I know everyone I know does...

I am sure glad it is on the 3rd, becasue otherwise I would have to work the next day, and I don't /can't stay up that late on a work night.

The symphony is always booked for the 4th of July in Cary, so Garner books them for the 3rd of July every year.
