Two ambulancemen have been arrested by police after they were heard allegedly discussing whether they should bother to resuscitate a disabled man who had collapsed at home and subsequently died.

Barry Baker, 59, who lived alone, had dialled 999 saying that he thought he was having a heart attack. An ambulance was sent to his house while a controller kept him talking on the line.

By the time the ambulancemen arrived at the house in Patcham, Brighton, Mr Baker had collapsed, but the telephone line was still open and was being recorded.
It is alleged that staff in the control centre heard the two medics making disparaging comments about the state of the house.

Well, that one was in Great Britain. Bad that it happens anywhere, hope it never happens here.
    .........................................
Today, we were taking the Winnebago over to Cottman transmission in Cary. C6 was behind me in the Saturn about 3 car lengths. As we went under one of the overpasses, I saw some kids waving, (or so I thought)....as we proceeded under it, she called me and asked if I was following a gravel truck.

Turns out the little goniffs threw some rocks. I heard, what sounded to be rocks hitting the rooftop, but thought nothing over it. Couple of hundred feet down the road, C6 calls me again and says that black rocks are hitting her car, and are coming from the driver's side of the RV.

We pulled over on I40 about mm 297. I checked the drivers side, walked to the back and around to the passenger door, walked back to the rear, climbed up the ladder to view topside, didn't see anything unusual.

Got to Cottmans, and pulled in. Manager comes out and tells me, "Sir, your front window is smashed." Looked at the camper window on the forward portion and sure as beans, broken into a bazillion pieces. The black rocks that C6 saw hit her Saturn was the tinted window glass blowing it over the roof onto her car.

    It gets worse.

Called 911 to ask for non emergency services. Since we were off Maynard Rd in Cary, the call went to Cary PD, who then informed me that since it happened on the interstate, that I had to call the SHP. Called SHP, and they asked whether I was heading East or West on the Interstate. Couldn't figure out what the diff was. Told her I was westbound on 40. She said westbound at 290 was Raleigh PD jurisdiction. Called Raleigh PD, who said since I was in Cary that they couldn't do anything until I got back to Raleigh.

Called 5 different glass companies. Apparently, they really don't want weekend work. 4 recordings advising to call Monday. 5th on advised it wold be a minimum service fee of 250 bucks, plus labor and materials. Not gonna happen.

Transmission work done in no time at all. Took the Saturn to Lowe's for plexiglass and duct tape to seal the window against the rain. Lowe's couldn't fit a 6 ft piece of plexi on a cutter, so I couldn't buy the 9.97 piece, and had to buy TWO @ 19.93 per piece. That was enough to make me almost lose it. Got the darned plexi back to Cottman's, where they helped me seal the front hole.

Drove back to exit 290, and went into the Raleigh side, ending up at the Cigna place. Called Raleigh PD. 2 hours and change later, PD showed up, took my statement, and gave me a card with the Report # on it. I asked him about the jurisdiction thing, and he said that he thought it was a SHP issue, but they try to pass them off, if it's even questionable.

Got home just before it rained.

    Long story short.

    * little goniffs rocked the RV with real rocks, broke front window.
    * Cary, Raleigh PD and SHP need to figure out jurisdiction.
    * Lowe's shouldn't sell plexi they can't cut, and then charge twice the cost of stuff precut to the size I needed.
    * Cottman's transmission rocks. Great service, fair price = great value.
    * Calling glass folks Monday. And insurance for claim.

I have a buddy that does glass work. I can give him a call if you let me know as much info as you can about which window is needed.

    Hoagie,
    Appreciate the offer.
The window that needs to be replaces is the one on the front of the "camper" top of the Winnebago. Mine is a Class C, which has the overhang over the top of the cab. Contrast that with a class A, which has a bus type looking front.

In the face on picture, the broken window is topside, but covered with plexiglass and duct atpe to ward off he rains of yesterday.

The window measures about 6 by 2.5 feet.
