Location perhaps being referred to is just south of hwy 50 and Rand Rd. intersection (heading towards Garner on it's on the left) There are also some wooded areas north of Rand Rd., before Centennial Park, being cleared (on the right).
They are pulling your leg, it's an old rumor, apparently some time ago it was being considered but it isn't any longer so far as I can tell.............
OK, this is part rumor, part true. The City of Raleigh is building a pumping station, and that is what is being cleared. Now the rumor part. Part of the pump station, will be to build 2-3 large holding ponds, for water from Lake Benson. The water will be cleaned, then used as drinking water further down stream. Also, due to the millions of gallons being pumped out of Lake Benson, only some Enginers know how much waterwill be left in the Lake. I heard Garner has/had a lease from Raleigh for the Lake, but that lease is up next yerar, and has not yet been renewed. I hope the lake is not drained. Now another question, what is being cleared in front of Rand Rd Elem? Are they expanding the school?
