    Riverwood Middle to Host RAK Cafe
    Riverwood Middle School is hosting another edition of the RAK (Random
    Acts of Kindness) Cafe' on Friday, April 15, 2005. Our invited guests
    include Dr. Anthony Parker, Superintendent of Johnston County Schools
    and Rep. Fred Smith.

    Spanish Dance at Four Oaks Middle
    The Carlota Santana Spanish Dance Co. will perform at Four Oaks Middle
    School on Friday, April 15 at 10:30 a.m. During the performance,
    professional artists in traditional costume will open students' eyes to
    the world of traditional Spanish dance and its origins in southern
    Spain. This performance is a part of the Artists-in-the-Schools program
    funded through Johnston County Arts Council and Four Oaks Middle PTA.

    SSS Students Continue Road to Success, Other Activities Planned
    Lindell Carter, a Senior at Smithfield-Selma High School, has been
    named a recipient of the Teaching Fellows Scholarship. He will be
    attending UNC-W. Carter is also a recent finalist for the National
    Achievement Scholarship Program which recognizes outstanding Black
    American students.
    Also at SSS, the Lacrosse Team held an azalea sale on Saturday to raise
    money to buy equipment. Few azaleas remain for purchase.
    SSS will host a workshop on Monday, April 18 at the school entitled,
    "How to Handle the Hard to Handle Student," from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30
    a.m.
    The school's Annual Curriculum Fair will be held on April 19 from 6
    p.m. to 8 p.m. in the gym. All rising freshmen and their parents or
    guardians are invited to attend. Counselors, teachers, coaches, and
    administrators will be on hand to answer any questions. Tours of the
    school will also be available.
    Honor Roll and Principals list students will be treated to an ice cream
    social sponsored by the Academic Boosters on Friday, April 22.
    Seniors are preparing for the exciting senior trip to Florida. They
    depart on Saturday, April 23 and will return on April 26. About 70
    seniors have signed up to attend.
    The SSS HOSA club will be attending state competitive events in
    Greensboro on April 21-23.
