    Hi!

I am looking into signing my daughter up for girl scouts. I was a brownie when I was little, but saw where there is a Girl Scout Daisy group for K-1.

She's in kindergarten and I know she would love it! I'm not exactly sure what I would need to do to sign her up or if there is a certain time of year to sign up.

We live in Clayton and when I looked online, I only saw troops in Smithfield and Raleigh? Are there any closer by? Any information would be greatly appreciated!

    Thanks so much!

I don't know, but cookie season is here so they will be posted outside of Wlamart, etc for the next month or so. If you don't find the official answer, I'm sure one of them can point you in the right direction.

there are several girl scout mom's on this board, so I am sure they'll chime in for you....plus they seem to be EVERYWHERE, meaning in front of every store right now since it's cookie season....ask 'em where their troops are!!!

It's not the expensive. The cost is $3 per meeting for dues plus the uniform stuff, which you can probably find used. Also, I wouldn't buy the whole thing - we just got the vest, troop patches (number, pin, etc) and the beenie. The cookies sell themselves, so no complaints there.

When I looked into it earlier this year, there was a 75.00 yearly membership fee per girl, plus the parent also had to pay a 10.00 membership fee, plus the 3.00 meeting fee (for snacks).

It is $12 for the National Dues. If you want to go on trips/outings/camping trips, you will need to pay $12 to be a member as an adult. I don't know what troop is charging that much in dues, but I know my troop of Juniors has $2/month dues to help pay for supplies, badges, etc. We meet after dinner, so we don't do snacks.

Yeah, I got a response back from a new troop that is forming and those are the rates. 12.00.

I don't know what the other troop lady was thinking. I would almost think I misheard her, but I also have it in an email. Weird.

Is the new troop for kindergartners? I signed up on the website and was told there wasn't any groups in my area for my daughters age group (kindergarten) b/c there weren't any volunteers to run it. I am supposed to be notified when one starts up-but I don't think I have received anything.

AFAIK, that's the age group I had requested. I too got the same message, and then a woman called me with the 75.00 troop in Dec. Then I asked around, so I don't know if the email I got came from me asking around or from the Girl Scout website. PM me your email addy and I will forward it to you, it's probably filling up quickly.
