My kids are of the age where we want to get them some furniture that will take thru thru high school (they are now 5 and 7).

I'm going to check out Rooms to go Kids and Haverty's, and have already checked out Badcocks.

Are there any other places you would recommend? I want to keep it relatively low in price ($1200 for a room of furniture) yet at least good quality.

I've already looked on 4042.com and craig's list, but didn't find much there for them.

    Thx,
    Jan

Try Furniture Market on Hwy 70 near Smithfield. They have some interesting stuff in there. We got DS's oak bunkbeds at Sam's Club. Excellent quality, good price. They are solid oak, I know, because I nearly knocked myself out making the beds one day. At least one thing is harder than my head!

I don't recommend Haverty's. Their furniture is nice, but it is overpriced. I also have had A LOT of customer service issues with them. I bought a living room and bedroom set with them and have had various problems. If you ride up on Glenwood, there's tons of stores. Home Comfort has great prices, but I'm not sure if they have kids' furniture. There's also a furniture market there, like the one on 70. Glenwood is a one stop shop for furniture.

Sam's actually has a little stuff but not too much. Depends on whenyou go there. We have had great success w/ the HOme Comfort Outlet store on Glenwood. It has great prices. We bought a 2 dining room tables and 12 chairs for $1000 which was great compared to all the other stores we checked out. They have a pretty good selection there too. Once taxes come it's back for some sofas that you wouldn't mind other people sitting on--LOL. They have bedroom furniture there too. It's next to the Rooms To Go store.

If you have a big enough truck/ van you could drive on over to Hickory/ Morganton area for some great deals. But do shop around i fyou go out that way. --some of the places are very "touristy" if you know what I mean and not as great a bargin.

Also, look online. Years ago, we found our handmade masterbedroon suite online direct from teh company.

Good luck. Just stay away from the kid looking stuff if you want it to last through high school. And speaking from experience, don't go cheap or it will break and you'll have to buy it again. Kids are very tough on furniture, that's for sure.

    Take care,

You can get this at Rooms to Go and Carolina Bedrooms locally. IIRC RTG's prices were better (look for the previous year's model to save $$). My daughter has the Princess loft bed with the slide, the quality is good the pieces are convertible - we plan on buying more pieces as the girls get older. I want to get my son the full size loft with the ladder that you attach to the wall - cool stuff!!

I ordered my oldest daughters bedroom suite from RTG Kids and my youngest daughters from badcock. I got them full size suites though, since they are older. Their bedroom suites before that I searched everywhere, because I knew what I wanted in my mind, but couldn't find it. Finally one day I popped into Furniture Mart on 70 and found them (white bunk beds that converted to singles) and then purchased two matching dressers, etc. and it made two suites, once they got old enough to not share a room. They got older and wanted something else, so we sold the stuff and purchased their separate rooms.

I've been pleased with the furniture from all three of these places.
