My apologies if there is already a similar thread!
I'm currently feeding Purina Pro Plan Chicken and Rice Formula for puppies,to our 2 1/2 lb. mini dachshund, since that is what the breeder was feeding, about 2/3 cup in total.
Our previous dog was on the raw diet but I believe I'd rather stay with the dry food with this one.
I've been reading the poorer the quality dry dog food the more often they will be pooping ;)
I read about Innova but it doesn't seem to be available around here.
    Thanks in advance!

Our dog gets a combination of Purina Beneful healthy weight and Moist and Meaty with cheese. The Beneful is the only dry food I've found that she will eat on a consistant basis. Everything else she will eat for a few days before she just stops.

Nutros Natural Choice for all my kids. They have been Nutros eaters for the past 13+ years. Puppy formula, sensitive skin formula, Lite formula and Senior formula. Has a lot of fatty amino supplements which are very good for their skin & coats. And the adult formulas have glucosomine & chondroitin for their joints.

You can purchase it at PetSmart, but not at the grocery stores or big food warehouse clubs.

Whatever I can get the little **** to eat, LOL. Right now, it's ProPlan lamb and rice. That could change tomorrow depending on her mood.

Blue Buffalo is wonderful. I research commercial foods when my little guy was dignosed w/ cancer. I must add though that the Blue is their secondary food. I cook for them.

Thanks everyone for the helpful suggestions!!
Since I was thinking about possibly going with grain free I looked into 'Taste of the Wild'
and read some good reviews about it.
    Anyone familiar with it?
    It's sold at Hudson's Hardware.
    Thanks!

I use the Nutro dry food also, for large breeds. If you go on a Saturday after 10am, the rep for Nutro is typically there and will give you some coupons. I signed up on their site for more. I can't remember off hand, but it's around 35.00 for a 35 lb bag. They have specials sometimes too. It's expensive, but I've found that my dog (85 lb Great Pyranees) eats less of that brand, poops less, and it's less messy and stinky.

I know that we have a cat that loves it, but once again it's not cheap like any of the other good foods.

I feed my dog Canidae brand dog food ... but I have to drive up to Raleigh to buy it. I used to have Flint River Ranch brand delivered to the house (mail order) but there was one time that they lost my order and I ran out and I had three dogs to feed ... decided mail order was NOT the way to go. My mini-aussie's breeder recommended the Flint River Ranch ... some people from the Collie Rescue recommended the Canidae for their rescues. I havent had a problem with it since, no recalls or anything, in a half dozen years.

Yep, that is about what I pay for the formula that everyone is eating currently, between 35-40 bucks for a big bag, cant remember exactly...its a little more pricey than some others, but it is good quality food and not full of filler crap.

Molly doesn't fart much, but good heavens, she burps like an old man. We about die laughing. She'll wait til everything is good and quiet and then let's go, or she'll get in your lap and do it. I can't figure it out, but it is funny as heck. Never been around a dog that burps like that.

I used to have a cat that looked like this, and she was an old girl when she passed on.

The cat that I have now that loves the Call of the wild food is a gray long haired tabby.

I am a strong believer in Purina. i have fed all mine that for years. My Rosie girl ate that her whole life and lived to be 18. For a 35-40 pound dog I think that is pretty good. I usually buy the Lamb and Rice nowadays because Peppercorns the dog has a sensitive tummy. Bogie doesn't care...he is just getting fat..lol. And Muffin....she is anywhere from 15-17, (we found her), and is on medication for cushings disease. She is still active and makes enough noise for all of them.
Oh and in the weird food catagory.....Muffin loves olives.
