I have read the previous post regarding Victoria's Pond Pool but wanted to know more about what other choices are out there. I was also considering Turner Farms Pool, both are about equal distance from where I live so that won't be that much of a factor. Has anyone had experience with either pool that you can share what you like / dislike about each one. I have 3 kids (11, 8, 5) so I want there to be kids to hang out with. Thanks for any insight!
We have been members of Turner Farms Pool for many years until last year. I didn't join last year because my kids didn't want to (they're 12 & 13) but they want to join this year so we more than likely will. I like the pool and there are always kids of all ages there to hang out with. We considered Victoria's Pond, but they don't have a diving board, which my kids insist on, and they don't have life guards (Turner Farms does). From what I hear they do serve food at Victoria's Pond several days a week, but I don't know when. Turner Farms doesn't sell food, but does have candy and drink vending machines. We always packed a cooler, ran to McDonalds before going, or ordered a pizza delivered there.
Pools I like the Turner Farms pool.It has different sections for kids of different ages. The only drawback is it is always crowded.Plus they are closed sometimes for swim team practice.
We are members of victoria. We like it. Last year it wasnt crowded, but the are growing. There was usually someone for my 10 year old to play with. They have a snack bar open all the time with affordable food, they just put in a swingset for the little ones... Kids over 13 can stay and the staff will watch them. I am not sure if I would be comfrotable doing that, but mine are too little anyway. My biggest problem is I dont get cell service out there (cingular). Maybe it is just my phone, but I got a new one and drove out there last week to try it and no signal (I work from home, so phone is important.) They are always open, and you can bring friends for $5. I have friends in Turner Farms and the whole life guard making you get out every hour gets old... and you cant bring alot of friends (unless that has changed recently). But they DO have a diving board!!
We belong to Lions Gate. No doubt is is the most expensive at $80/month, but you do get a gym membership year round with it. They have 3 pools to go to, one being indoor, as well as a golf course. We joined there last year as it was our first year here in the area, and I wanted a pool for the kids to socialize (as well as me!). So, I do like Lion's Gate very, very much.
Does anyone have pricing information on Victoria's Pond or any of the others? We've been at Turner Farms up until this year and wanted to look around for something different. Isn't there a pool in the South -something neighborhood on Cleveland RD near 42? What about Clayton city pool? We looked into Broadmoor pool when it first opened since it was convenient to our home but found it too pricey. Also, does anyone know how to go about finding out about renting a share at McGees Pool? I know we've talked this subject to death earlier but I didn't pay attention. Any info would be appreciated!
We love Victoria Pond. Never over crowded. No diving board, but I think that has just saved my son from a few hospital visits. And, the snack bar is awesome. They have some of the best food, and the prices are very reasonable. You could try to call the McGee's pool, and get on a waiting list of people that want to rent shares. I'm not sure, but I think most of them are rented for this year, but it wouldn't hurt to check with them.
Victoria's Pond is $100 to join, and $400 for the season, (I think--that's what it was last year), so basically $500. We went there last year and really liked it, it's not overcrowded, and the people there are really nice.
We love the (Secret) McGee's Pool! It opens on Sat - Yipppiiieee! We'll be there as soon as we get back from the beach! The pool is VERY NICE- well maintained & there is NO messing around! It is run like a tight ship. Meaning the rules are enforced. But it takes years to JOIN. Happy Safe Summer Swimming to all.
vitoria's pond This is the second yr we joined and my daughter is 7 and she has always had people to play with, no diving board, not a problem the kids tend to find other safe ways to play. They have a grill and the prices are good. But, they still don't mind if you pack a smaller cooler either. I think as they get bigger each yr it might become a problem with it being busy, but as of right now it's great. It's 500 the first time to join, and the following yr is just 400 for the season. Very nice clean pool and the owners are very very nice. When you buy your food from the grill they bring it to you, which is nice for a change to be spoiled lol. Sheri
I went to look at Turner Farm's pool and the one question I still have is do they have any umbrella's if you didn't want to sit out in the sun? Being of the "pale face" variety, shade is important to me.
