Do you also have your phone service with them? It's not that much if you bundle your services. Check their website.

Roadrunner ... be sure to ask for Roadrunner LITE ... cost is only $24.99 per month. They might act like they have no idea what you are talking about BUT they do indeed offer it.

I have Embarq also. Think I'm paying to much too!

But, neighbor got Time Warner phone and Internet. If the power is out you have NO phone - With Embarq we still have phone service when the power is out. (you have to use the old corded one - not the cordless kind which you can pick up for $10.00 or less). Also, you can not FAX with the cable phones - neighbor now comes to my house to FAX. I also notice that her Internet is slower than mine - Road Runner claims to be faster but that has not been my experience.

I really wish there was a cheaper way than Embarq but I have not found it yet.

I have embarq DSL, 1.5 MB connection. I just had the rate lowered to $24.95 by agreeing to 1 year of service. I was previously paying $39.95

we just ditched Embarq for a TWC bundle with RR and Digipic 1000, they bundled both packages and the DigiPic service includes the DVR capabilities for $90.94/mo and that includes all taxes and fees. The actual package price for the services is $79.90/mo. and that price was quoted to me for 12 months. I do think that the RR is faster than the DSL service I was paying $50/mo to Embarq for (that included the Earthlink acct for an extra $5/mo.). Neighbors on both sides of me have the RR internet service and they haven't mentioned a slow down on their end since we hooked in. So far I am happy with Time Warner..... and I really really really used to hate TWC when we had traditional cable 7 or 8 years ago. I had to look for another alternative to my Dish Network because there were trees out of my control on adjoining property that were beginning to block my signal terribly. I also hate hate hate Sprint/Embarq so it was the perfect opportunity to check out the TWC packages. I havent cancelled out home phone yet, and its not to say I won't.. thats just a project for another day...

    :)

We have the cable, phone and internet service...I figure if the power is out..no problem...we've got 3 cell phones between my dh and myself :)

My RR service is very fast..almost as fast as my T1 at work

    I LOVE it btw!

My understanding is you can purchase a battery backup for your system which could be used when the power is out.

FYI, I found out when I cancelled Sprint (and went with Vonage) that Sprint does not have a "soft dial tone". When you cancel service, your phone line is dead as a doornail. No 911, or anything else.

I have TWC digital service too and I have the bundle, internet, phone and cable. I like it since all our family is out of state.

Never heard of it but apparently it does exist. Seems to be mixed feeling about it out there...

We finally came into the 21st century, and bought a laptop on no tax weekend. We had dial up with the old computer and went with Bell South DSL (lite). Really like it so far.

Really, I thought it was a law to provide that, guess I was mistaken.

Cannot swear to it Ken, but I think when the law kicked in for VoIP providers to provide 911 seervice things probably changed. We haven't had a problem but our VoIP equipment is all installed with battery backup.

Road Runner here. And won't get rid of it, unless Clayton becomes one huge hotspot.

Phone is strictly cell, no house phone. Personally I can't see the need for it.

Same here, on all counts. And even if Clayton becomes a huge hotspot, hold onto your RR service until you're sure their wifi works the way they say it will. My sister has had nothing but trouble with wifi service in St. Cloud, FL, where it's supposed to be available all over town. They have meetings that are packed with people who have the same problems.

On the other hand, I have traveled with a laptop and used hotspots with no problem, in various locations.

On the otherhand I didn't. Apparently my service uses a BBU on their towers.
