For those of you who have previously followed my white shepherd's updates, Willow isnt eating ... short of spending an hour 4 or 5 times a day, encouraging her to take a few bites ... or shoving food in to her mouth and making her swallow ... she has no interest in food. I cant keep it up, and neither can she. Unless there's a turn-around over the weekend ... then I think I'm going to have to make arrangements on Monday to have her put to sleep.

And yes ... this is killing me.

I'm really sorry to hear that. Hope she turns around, but certainly understand that the time may come to say good-bye for her sake. I'm sure you've given her the best life possible. From reading through this, you sound like a very caring doggie mom.

    Elims,

Honey I am very sorry. I know this is painful, but remember that you have to do what is in the best interest of Willow. Call your vet and talk to them, ask for thier advice, and make the most of this weekend with Willow.

Give Willow the best weekend ever. Spend time with her. If Monday comes around and you know you have to ease her suffering, remember that's just what you're doing...

...and she'll be waiting for you at the Rainbow Bridge!!

I am so sorry. I know how you can truly feel your heart breaking when it comes to this. You will make the right decision for her because she will let you know that. You are a great mommy. You have always had her best interest in your heart and mind. I will be praying for the both of you. Please let me know if I can help.

I'm very sorry to hear this Elims. I know how hard that decision is to make and then follow through with. :-(

I'm afraid to get my hopes up prematurely, but she ate some of her kibble, dry, without needing much encouragement last night at 'bedtime snacky' time ... and again this morning at breakfast time ... I am SOOOO thankful that my boss lets me work from home! I can feed her small meals more frequently and keep an eye on her!

Please keep us in your thoughts and prayers ... I think all of the good vibes are helping immensely!!! This has been going on for the past few weeks, but it wasnt until I mentioned it to others and others started to reach out, that she showed this sign of improvement ... even if it is just temporary!

Everyone ... Willow HAS made a complete turn-around! She has been eating her normal dry kibble all weekend. For the first time in weeks, she's eating (somewhat) normally. My heart has soared each time she takes a bite. I have been completely stunned ... I really did not expect such positive results.

My 4.5 year old girl is such a fighter ... she has inflammatory bowel disease (intestinal disease), is anemic, has immune-mediated thrombocytopenia (platelet disorder), a perpetual urinary tract infection, HAD bad hips (we did the PennHip surgery) ... and I forget her other ailments at the moment ... but she's still fighting. She's SO sweet, and has such a beautiful spirit!!

Amazing - last week, tears of sadness; this week, tears of joy.
