I am doing a windows 7 64bit install on my older dell. One thing I have run into in the past is when it does its first reboot it loses video. I usually have to disable the video driver in device manager so that the monitor will work.

How do I get to device manager after its first reboot? It will not allow me to get into safe mode yet since it is still loading.

    Thanks

After about 4 ties it finally installed. But another issue I have with either the 32 bit or the 64 bit versions of windows 7 is it does not like the nvidia geforce 8600 gts in 3d mode. It will boot one time into it but when it comes out of sleep mode or reboots after the windows logo comes up the monitor loses signal. I have to reboot and disable it so I can get windows to start. It even installed the most current version of the software.

It seams only vista sees the video card correctly.
