I was hosing off my dad's truck and the windshield cracked from top to bottom and I need to replace it for good price. It's a 2002 Ford Explorer Sport Trac. Please help I only have til the end of the week....
yes. auto policy covers it. I have had 4 windsheilds replaced in 2 years ( I drive 40 back and forth everyday to work) and they just laugh and connect me with their 'preferred' autoglass place....they even come to the parking garage at work to replace it.
What about aglassnut? For $1 more every 6 months we got a no deductible windshield replacement clause. Well worth it to me! Good luck.
I used to do autoglass up till a month ago. I can still get parts as I'm still doing it part time. If you'd like, I can check on a price for you. For the record, Aglassnut is not some weird medical condition, I was an auto glass tech for 10 years. Mike
very true... a wild turkey jumped up and crushed our windshield. Yes a really turkey and a real windshield... and trying to explain that to the 3rd grader who answered the phone at the insurance co. was like trying to teach a chicken French. You would have thought we were to get our windshield fixed or something.:roll::roll::roll: stupid frookin' insurance people.
LOL Koo! I had a turkey come near to hitting us on I-81 in VA a month or so ago. You should have heard me and the SIL screaming in the car! Don't know how he missed us, but he flew right into the side of the car next to me! Dumb birds!
glass replacement is covered under comp not collision. If you have full coverage, you've got comp. You'd be responsible for your deduct, and then insurance will pick up the rest. Keep in mind 2 things: 1) It's your decision as to who does the work. It pays to do your research. Just because it doesn't leak and it looks good, doesn't mean it was a good job. I've sent quite a few cars to the body shop because of poor workmanship. In this area, it's estimated that approx. 70% or more of the windshields installed are done improperly. 2) A cash price is going to be different than the price that the insurance company pays. They all have preset pricing which will vary from a cash price. If you have any questions, drop me a line. Mike
