I setup a wireless router in Hendersonville when I was visiting my dad and used it. Now he bought an IPad and cannot connect because I cannot remember the password. I know it was stupid and I am beyond myself that I would not have written it down and given it to him but cannot locate it on my hard drive or in this old brain.

Anyone have a suggestion for me? I am visiting his place right now but am leaving in the morning and need help ASAP.

    Thanks,
    Sherry

You can do a hard reset of the router and it will reset back to the factory settings.

To add.........mine has a reset button on the back.

If you don't have the manual for it you can always google the model and get instructions.

Yes, Ima is correct. Most all routers have a reset button somewhere. Some are tough to find if you have documentation. My Belkin for example has the reset located underneath and accessed thru the air slot with a paperclip or similar.

Be sure to access the router once hooked up to set the password. Don't want a neighbor downloading porn off your wireless! Most routers use the 192 dot IP to access. Type or click these address: http://192.168.2.0/ or http://192.168.2.1/ into your browser then search around the interface to set the password.

    Good Luck!

Thank you so much. I told my dad that we needed to push the reset button but he debated so much with me on this I gave up.

I arrived at his place around 4 pm today. He wanted me to work on his new IPad as he cannot surf the internet, then he told me his laptop computer was not showing Google as his search engine and lastly his printer that he purchased in 2010 was not working. I have spent the whole time here working on his GD electronic items and am getting frustrated with him but he's in his 80s and I understand how overwhelming this can be to him. Why he continues to buy electronic items is beyond me.

Once again, thank you so much.

Oh....I'm moving my daughter into her college dorm tomorrow, snow is on its way and all I've been doing is his computer crap so I'm more than frustrated at the moment.

    Poor me,
    Sherry
