Worst local upscale dining experience?

I took my parents and sister to Bogarts last Saturday for Mother's Day since that was the only place I could get a reservation at such short notice. I was worried a little because I heard mix reviews about the place.

Everything started out all right till we got ready to order and found out there were out of New York Strip, ribs, and something else. My stepfather had to pick something else because he wanted the ribs. After about 10 minutes, we saw two racks of ribs being delievered to the table across from us. We were thinking they got the lack slab of ribs or something so we asked out waiter about it. He gave us a excuse of that what he was told at lunchtime. But here is the kicker. He said he could add the ribs to the order, because he hasn't turn in the order yet. WTH, its been 10 minutes and you haven't even put our order in.

35 minutes later, we get our food. Personally I never seen prime rib look like a long piece of sirloin like I received. My sister got a ribeye and I have never seen a ribeye that was 3 inches think. He was so tough, I didn't think she was going to be able to cut it. She didn't eat one piece and said she was going to feed it to her dog. To top it all off, the food came to us lukewarm.

The waiter offered us dessert to make up for it, but the sister kinda spoke up for all of us and so no thanks. Don't feel like waiting another 10-15 probably for you to bring it out.

I went to their corporate website and put in my review for my experience. It has been a couple of days so far and no response. They should know I will never spend my hard earn dollar in their establishments no more.

If you want a place where you want to get **********, this place is probably it due from what I heard, but don't expect a mouthwatering dining experience.

Been there twice, though not in a few years and all was good both times.

Thinking about it...im not sure ive ever had a "worst" local dining experience, upscale or not. Once at Chili's the GF's order wasnt exactly as she anticipated but other than that, i cant ever recall one.

4 for 4 to date. I think they have developed the method for them to do things consistently. I don't envision a big fall off.

    Random content blocks FTW.

on thread: cookout made me sad on monday. i went for a banana shake... and when i got out on 42 and took a sip i noticed that it was definitely chocolate. not a bad thing, chocolate is great... but i really did want that banana pudding one =|

Did you get that with the cookout tray or seperate order. I know they are skimpy on the onion rings if on the combo, because they will give you around 6-8 rings.. They must cost a lot more than french fries.

I haven't been to this one yet, but went to the one on S. Saunders a couple days ago. Ordered a cheeseburger with ketchup & mus-My Friend, got mayo and mus-My Friend. A very odd combination, which I wouldn't have ordered, so I didn't get to enjoy the sandwich. And the shake was good, but it was so thick it was about 1/2 hour before I could drink it!

  8. HUM, 3 strikes you're out is a good rule, except nasty.
Pizza Inn is nasty, only went there once.
    Chops has 3 strikes.
Waiting for Cook Out to be open about a month before I go to the new one, takes about that long for a new place to get it together. Love the mint chocolate chip shake at the others, can't wait to have it close to home!

I've been to Bogart's once. Not impressed at all. I'd rather get a pizza than go back. On a bright note, they did have my favorite bourbon (Maker's Mark) available.

I've been to Bogart's once, not really impressed. I wouldn't rule it out, but there are just so many others that are better. I went to Hard Times too (only mentioning since they are close in location) and had just heard all these wonderful things....it was mediocre at best, and we won't be going back there.

Ken, you might want to give Chops another try. i was like you when it came to Chops after several bad visits a couple years ago but they are now under new management and the last couple times DH and i went we thoroughly enjoyed it and didn't have a single complaint. Management, as we all know, can make or break a business and thankfully they seem to have the right one in there now.
