Does anyone have knowledge of how JoCo schools are doing in the 'gang activity' department. Reading the story this am on WRAL about gangs in Wake Co. schools made me scared for the kids. I thought thank god I am in JoCo, but then what if all those folks decide to move to Joco so their kids can escape Wake Co? Also, I know a lot of parents get in a twist at the mention of school uniforms, but I say implement it if your school has gang problems, Kahki pants and white colored shirts for all. And make sure they are well fitting. The gangs would prob still find a way to differentiate themselves, maybe they could divide into the creases and the flat fronts or the cottons and the synthetics.
My friend used to work for Durham County Sheriffs Department. I asked him about gangs here in Johnston County. He said yes, most definitely there are gangs here and showed me around Clayton w/ stuff written and what it all meant. Seriously don't know how they keep us w/ all that but way to go police departments. This was a few years ago though and don't know current gang status here but I'm sure it has not disappeared. Be interested in knowing what others know about the gang stuff as well here. stephanie--mom to 7
A friend who has a child at Clayton High has reported a presence there. I am not sure her expereince to make this conclusion. There is an increase in gangs in Johnston County. Since many of these kids are high school age, I can only assume there are gangs in our high schools here, too.
