Just curious if anyone has done this. My wife and I are thinking about getting an ION Turntable that has a USB connection for the computer and software for converting. Tons of vinyl records that we never bought the corresponding CD. So has anyone attempted this? If so, how did it turn out. I know sound quality can't be but so good, but hey if we did not replace them by now, we obviously did not listen to those albums that often. We just want to have them in a digital format.
I've been working on recording my vinyl collection (using a turntable with a pre-amp that has an output that goes directly into my soundcards line in port) for a number of years. Kind of a slow process, using a software combo called LP Recorder (initially records the vinyl LP and stores it as a WAV file) and LP Ripper (used to convert it to an MP3 and also reduces clicks and background hiss). I've been pretty pleased with the results...and anytime I start dragging out the old LPs and reading the liner notes and checking out the cover art....makes for a nice time, so who cares if it is slow! :-D BTW, the whole process was worth the look on my son's face the first time I setup the turntable and fired up an LP....the "THAT'S what you used to listen to music on" expression was priceless!
Got one I have the exact turntable your talking about-the Ion that plugs into usb port.I love it-just wish I had more albums-I cant find anywhere to buy new ones-but sound is fantastic!
very good-Ive left 3 of my albums on my hard drive-the rest I either burned to cd or left on my Ipod.Very cool to hear the scratch and pop again after 20+ years. My youngest son freaked when he saw an album-"look how big that thing is!" Now he loves them.
The best and cheapest way to do this is buying a Dazzle!! RCA Inputs from a standard turntable. Records directly to the PC ready to be burned.
Not when my last turntable died many years back... never replaced it That's why I was looking at this specific model.
I'm looking for someone who can convert several old albums to files I can put on a CD. The albums are vintage - everything from Andy Griffith to Henry Mancini, some blues and vintage bawdy/risque music from the 50s, to Doris day. They are in excellent condition - Mint - so they should be in good condition for converting. I just don't have the equipment. Anyone interested in making some money on the side and giving me a quote per album?
