Dell seems to have some good deals on refurbished laptops -- anyone have an opinion about if this is a good route to pursue?? i want a laptop that i can watch dvds, burn cds, do word processing/desk top publishing, and connect to internet ... i don't have a lot of funds to sink into this endeavor your help is appreciated...
I purchased a refurbished one using the Small Business wing of Dell and was very happy with it, mine came with full and on site warranty.
I could never recommend a Dell PC. Lap or desktop. If you've ever had a real problem with one you will know why. It's like dealing with "Achmed the Camel Salesman". They deny, deny, deny everything till they're sinking in the sand hill of lies and then they give in to fix a known problem. Typically long after most users have given up and put a bullet thru the unit. Why buy refurbished? There are units out there, new, that are really resonably priced. Check the Acer line, you'll be amazed how cheap their getting.
Just got the Dell flyer today. Says to check from 6/12-6/12 for 10 days of "unbelievealbe" savings! www.dell.com/june DH got an HP Laptop and is very pleased with it!
Agree with the DON'T BUY DELL sentiments because of customer service. Just got a refurbished Sony notebook and although we did have some problems, CS was there to help and they are here in the US.
i like dell laptops. both of the laptops we've had are dells, and they are very solid. but then again we've never used the tech support
Our company standard is HP, not Presario but the business line models (look for three year standard warranty) and they seem to hold up great. We have some Dells out there that are around through aquisition. Customer service is extremely lacking. HP/Compaq is quite good even though you do talk with India. You can find the best HP deals through Smart Buy.
Got a friend of mine that has been buying from Tiger Direct for years and never had any issues other than shipping taking a little longer due them stating it was shipping from one warehouse when it actually shipped from another that was further away. Craig
