Aldi does have some good deals. If you've never been there, I would suggest stopping by to check it out. I buy canned vegetables when I'm there, and occasionally they have a super deal on something else too.
I LOVE it! Go there about once every other week. They have awesome deals on their meat and other produce. Canned veggies are great. Plus, they have the double guarantee. And cheap wine! K
I will just say, I do 95% of myu grocery shopping at Aldi on a monthly basis. I buy laundry detergent, meats, produce and everything else there. I feed a family of 4, for about $200 per month. Also, I just thought about it, the other day, and I take care of 4 extra kids throughout the week, none of them full time, but they are here at least 2 days a week, and I feed them breakfast and lunch. So, it feeds more than 4 people a month. I do buy bread and milk throughout the month, at other stores, just because I don't go to Fuquay all the time. I have only had one thing I didn't like from Aldi. We bought these stuffed salmon, which were frozen, and I thought for $3 each, they would be a good and easy main course. The salmon was great, but I didn't care for the stuffing a whole lot. But, other than that, I do all of my shopping there. You have to really not be hung up on name brands in order to shop at Aldi though. I have friends that won't shop there because they only buy name brands. But, they also spend $250 per week for their family of 6. So, I think I'd rather eat store brands and spend less in one month than she does in one week. Also, I did talk to the manager, and she said all of their stuff is actually made in the same place as the name brands, but they put them in a different box. Good luck, and let us know what you think.
There is one in Fuquay, right beside Pizza Hut just before you get to where you turn in to Wal Mart (or really close to that). I had always wondered what it was.....I had no idea.
They don't take coupons because they don't carry many name brand things. From what I've heard on the babycenter.com board they do take food stamps and wic though. (Don't quote me on that, I don't know for sure) K
When shopping at Aldi, don't forget to make sure you have a quarter for your shopping cart (it is refunded when you return the cart) and take your own grocery bags so you don't have to buy theirs.
Yeah, I forgot to mention the grocery cart and bags. I have a bunch of bags I got when they first opened, so I just keep them, and use them everytime I go shopping. And, I got one of those big cooler bags that BJ's sold to hold cold foods, and I use that to hold all of the cold foods and frozen foods. Everyone needs to check Aldi out, at least once. They have started carrying fresh meats, and they are really good. Their pork chops are the best.
Be nice to have an Aldi around the 40/42 area It would be really nice to have an Aldi around the 40/42 area. I have shopped at the stores around the world since the 1970s. Aldi exists in most countries and are always a good deal. For a family of 4, we save about $80+ dollars a month. We could save more if I had 1 closer to here. I currently shop at the Aldi in Fuquay. www.aldi.com
I looked at the website...two questions? 1. Do you need a membership? 2. Are things really that much cheaper than BJ's? I'm guessing yes, since they are non-brand items, but want to clarify. Heck, $200 a month for 4 people...that's cheap. I can spend at least $100 a night, if I'm cooking for a bunch of folks. I know we spend like over $1,000 a month for grocery/beer, and I'd really like to cut that down!
I told myself that I was gonna get up there this week to check out Aldi...have not made it yet. I do know that you do not need a membership. Don't they have some payment restrictions too - cash only or some such?
