My other half lost her job the other day...

She's looking for a Manager position in telecommunications, cable, manufactoring, operations, etc.

I know the best way to find a job is to network. The old saying of how everyone knows at least 20 people and they know at least 20 people who know at least 20 people, etc., I'm hoping someone could throw out some suggestions of companies or even individuals who are hiring. :)

    Anywhere from Clayton/Smithfield to RTP.

    Thanks everyone!!!! :)

I lost my job last year in telecom. I posted my resume on Monster and people were contacting me w/in a week. One month later I had a much better job and thank GOD I'm not in telecom anymore.

    Monster is my suggestion

She posted on there yesterday. She's only been unemployed now for two days so she's been applying on all the major employment sites. I figured there might be a company or individual out there who hates getting a million monster resumes and rather look without that kind of assistance. :)

Thats awesome you got a job so fast! It took me six months before I landed one as an Admin asst back in the day! :)

Monster is good, I swear I got a phone call last week, and I haven't been looking for a job in over a year. I got LOTS of phone calls when I originally posted and had I been willing to go to Raleigh, could have had my pick of positions.

    Good Luck!

That's great that you are looking to your 4042 family for help. If you want e-mail me her resume and I'll forward it to my business coach. She knows LOTS of people!

Will do! Thanks so much! Her name is Christie. :)

Yeah, I was told once by a recruiter that the best way to find a job is to network as many people that you have contact with. I figured forums were a great start!

    Thanks again!

What are you doing now that you've left telecom?

I quit IS project management last year (have been unhappy for years!) and went back to school in another field. I recently got a job in my targeted field, but had to take more than a 50% paycut to make the career change. The money loss really hurts, but at least I made the transition.

I worked in Telecom/Document Control for Engineering Change Orders, etc. and I landed a job at a robotic pharmaceutical company (we build robots to dispense prescriptions, etc) doing the same thing. I love it!!!!

Funny, I've been here almost a year and a month ago I got a call from someone wanting to know if I was still a financial analyst...said nope, changed careers 4 years ago and love it!

We are hiring where I work. We're looking for people to work Loss Drafts. Not to insult anyone's intelligence, but Loss Drafts are the checks you get from the insurance company when your house has damage.

We are expanding and opening a claims department here in Raleigh and needs some good folks. Qualifications:

    • Must be professional
    • Good with figures
    • Diplomatic yet compassionate (you're dealing with folks whose homes have been destroyed by hurricanes, fire...etc.)
    • Detail-oriented
    • Cannot have a criminal record
    • Must be legally able to work in the USA
    Just to name a few.

I believe they will be needing a management figure for the team.

If anyone is interested, just PM me.

USPS (United States Postal Service) is hiring more Rural Carrier Associates. You must pass the exam and have a good vehicle ready to use for the route. Check USPS website and you can apply from there.

The reason why USPS need more RCAs is because of the growth (new subdivisions, apartment, business, and more) and they need your help. I love my job as RCA and I never want to go back to medical coding job again.
