Went to Walmart in Smithfield yesterday afternoon. Bought 2 real cute sweaters for $2 each. Granddaughter wears a 2-3 now but I bought 4's for next winter. They also had some real good deals on men's jackets, hoodies, and light sweaters.
I have a closet reserved only for gifts, holiday decorations and party items. I keep a list year round of who I buy gifts for (and keep it in the closet). As I buy items for those people, I write the item on the list and put the item in the closet. I also keep a stash of gifts I find at great deals throughout the year for kids b-day parties, tooth fairy, etc... They are not earmarked for a particular child, but are available if needed. I definitely agree with jjganny that holiday shopping takes place all year.
Hi Kaci - On some things I am definitely the organization nut. On others, not so much! LOL I just started keeping the gift list in the closet with the gifts this year and it works so well. If I put a gift in the closet and it is for a specific person - I just write the gift next to their name and check it off. I already have most of the birthday and holiday gifts purchased for the younger neices and nephews for this year. It's my own little ones who are a challenge to shop for. Harley - You are too funny.
Do you keep that closet locked? I remember doing some serious and frequently successful searching of my parents' house when I was a small child.
Amazingly, the closet is located in my 6 year old's bedroom and she never goes in there. She has 2 closets in her room and I use one for the gifts and holiday decorations. I have it kind of set up so I will know if anyone has been in there and so far - no trespassers! They are well aware of what is in there. Maybe they are sneaking peeks - but all the stuff for them is in double bags and they would have to do some real searching around in the closet to see the stuff. I don't think they could get it back in place without me knowing they had been snooping.
