can anyone replace the keyboard on my laptop? I bought a replacement keyboard which arrived today. I tried to replace it myself but I'm afraid I'm going to break something. If you or someone you know can fix it for me please PM me.

    Thanks

Before the arm chair pros start bombarding you. It should be simple. One ribbon cable. Most of the time it's very easy.

I can't get the entire back off, I was able to remove the cover and pull part of the back away from the keyboard area but couldn't get one area off. I can see the ribbon cable and could detach it myself but I can't get the old keyboard out since I can't remove the back completely. Any suggestions??

    Thanks

I was just looking at directions to replace the keyboard on a Dell Inspiron 1100 that belonged to my sister. I don't know what kind of laptop you've got, but it showed that there are 4 screws at the top of the keyboard, under the "hinge cover". It shows to pop off the hinge cover, and then unscrew the 4 small screws. I don't know if that will help you or not.

Thank you. I'll try that when I get home.
