I am a firm believer that Asians are trying to eradicate the English language one letter at a time.

So did just the Chinese place catch on fire or what? I liked their food the one time I popped by there, but was a little dissapointed with their low rating so quickly !

It has nothing to do with plurals. When I arrived at my epiphany, I was buying my lunch from the local truck (where I was working in California). The guy handed me my sandwich and said, "on dolla an fity tree cent". Each word had exactly one letter removed. It was then that I started listening to other Asians. It happened most of the time. (No, not all the time. Apparently some didn't get the memo) Whatever the sentence, all words were pronounced sans one letter.

Is that how you ended up having your  waxed? Maybe they misunderstood you when you said you wanted your nails trimmed . . .

    Love ya, mean it!

    Clif and Ken,

My dad speaks Mandarin and says that American English is the hardest language in the world to learn because of all the slang words and same sounding words that have separate meanings. If one thinks about it I guess it makes sense.

He speaks, reads and writes Mandarin and when he goes into a Chinese restaurant he has a great time listening. Sometimes when leaving he speaks to them in Mandarin and they laugh. He understands other Asian languages and speaks them also but not like Mandarin. One full year at Ft. Ord in California in the 1950s. Seven days a week no English spoken in class at all. The Army taught him Chinese and the Marine Corp. taught him photography for a year. He loves to learn.

Me, I thought the Thread was about stopping at a traffic light and running around a car.

Yeah, I understood homophones but others might need it explained, so I did. Anyhow, my dad does say Japanese is way easier.

I would think you could learn a language quickly, if you wanted too. Those raised around anyone speaking another language have an easier time I am told. Which dialect are you learning?
