Luckily the kid inherited his Dad's gift for numbers. He absolutey LOVES math. Loves to read too, so I am hoping all will go well. Like I said before, I am trying to keep it pretty low key. Our biggest problem isn't whether or not he knows the material, it's getting him to SLOW DOWN. He rushes through and makes silly mistakes. Both his teacher and I have been preaching all year about slowing down, but come heck or high water, he's going to be done before anyone else. Got no idea how to cure him of that.

thats mine too. they go way toooo fast....and in 5th grade, they have to apply all they have learned since 3rd grade to complete one problem. They rush rush rush....gets harder as they get older. I am not worried about the EOG's, I think they are a crock of poop. I do worry about the new placement test for 6th grade, its new, and I dread 6th grade already....JoCo loves to test and place labels on kids.....drives me INSANE!! I wish I could home school or afford private school.

I agree, and I've fussed about the labels on here before. No sense in giving a kid a complex for life, whether it's a "good" label or "bad". I've seen many a smart kid in school...................... fall flat on their face when they get out in the real world. But the kid that you thought wouldn't amount to a hill of beans becomes a great success.

My son's EOG 's are over. So far we know he passed the Math. Now waiting on the other two. I'm sure he did good, he's made honor roll all year, so we aren't too worried!

We moved down/over from Iowa. Iowa does not have EOG's My girls were in 6th and 2nd when we moved and my 6th grader freaked out.
Altho they both have struggled in Math...when it comes to the EOG's they both pass with flying colors. I just tried to tell them it was just an everyday test. To try like they always do on a test and not to worry over it.
So far it seems to have worked But i do really hate them
