So I'm getting older! Lovely. Need an exam and new sun glasses and regular glasses. Any deals ya'll know about??? TIA.
Dont know about deals, but we get ds glasses at walmart and they have been great and good price I think. I can still get my reading glasses at the dollar spot at Target! Love it!! Have tons.....they are a dollar after all!
I second and third walmart. DD and I just got glasses from there in the past 2 weeks. The frames I looked at in the doctor's office were $214. I found a VERY similar pair at Walmart for $108. DD's glasses only cost $88 for frames and lens.
Walmart has good prices. If you're a AAA member, you can get discounts at different places too - the only one I can remember is Lens Crafters. IF you don't mind going all the way to Southpoint mall - the Target (oh - they honor AAA discount too) over there has an optical center - thats where we got my dd's last pair (cause she needed strong presc sunglasses and they had what she wanted for the best price). So far I can still get by with the no presc store 'readers' :hurray:.
OK girls I don't have AAA but almost could apply for AARP! I'll check wal-marts (vomit) and see what's up. Thanks!!!! almost blind without my glasses HG :boxing:
Lenscrafters had a sale last week and lenses were 1/2 off... I saved like $150. Not sure how long the sale was lasting.
In the Sunday paper there is usually an ad for Visionworks. It is in Raleigh, but it is so worth the drive. I get my kids glasses, 2 pair for $100. 1 for each child. The last time, I just got my son a pair of sunglasses and regular glasses for $120. They always have a great deal going on.
just wondering how old your kiddo's are? I thought most around here wouldn't see them til they are 5! I've been taking ds to Raleigh since he was 2.5 and its outragous for his glasses but at least I get new lenses for free every few months, because he scratches the hell out of them!!
7 kids, of course I have the #--LOL. Here ya go... 553-3400 (This is the # to the doc's office where you get your exam done). BTW, Dr. E is great. He is the one who first noticed something was horribly wrong w/ my son's eyes and sent me onto an opthalmologist. Turns out he has RP(retinitis pigmentosa) and will slowly go blind losing vision peripherally. Luckily, Dr. E. was sharp, knew something was wrong and we can take precautions and do stuff to help our son for his future. Otherwise, we'd have never known. I too was skeptical to go to Walmart for vision care but they came highly recommended. I also have another daughter w/ Optic Nerve Hypoplasia. Good luck! Stephanie--mom to 7
Two words folks, Zenni Optical !!!!!!! You have to do some learning on what your script means but what you save is worth it. Don't expect phone support but the web site has tons of help screens. My kids glasses at WalMart with a 10% discount was $125 .... at Zenni ....$26 with shipping incl. Got them in 3 days. And she got designer style frames. zennioptical.com
We use Garner Family eye care for exams and my kids started before a year old there. One has vision problems (but 20/20 vision) and we use Dr. Durham in Cary and she examined my son before he was a year to make sure he didn't have the same problems my older one did. There was a program (son is three now, so I am not sure if it still going on) where if you got an eye exam before a year it was free. (to try to encourage parents to start young.)
Try BJ's. igot my sons glasses there, frames and lenses were 88 bucks. He has tortured them, and they are still kickin'
DH just paid nearly $400 for new glasses at Lenscrafters, and they were HALF price! Sigh...it's awful to get older in so many ways. I'm sure that he's spent more in the last 3 years on glasses than I paid for my lasik surgery.
