Why did you get a dog if you are only going to leave it outside 24/7? What is the point in having a pet? That sounds more like an animated lawn ornament. And - you will never find what he is barking at, that dog could be barking at his own shadow for all you know.
After re-reading Josey Wales post, I'm not so sure he was implying "calling the law" when he referred to "triple the aggravation in return if I'm his neighbor".
You didn't know? I'm the world's first "Dog Screamer". *BTW, we inherited the dog from my wife's deceased grandparents. He's a ten year old dog whose totally happy outside. We bring him inside in the winter when it's really cold or snowing. I'm not heartless.
Based on what I've read of unc's posts in the dog/cat section I would say he's not a neglectful or unkind dog owner. I don't agree with him to leave the dog out at 3am barking because, like he said, they'd be keeping me up just as much and I don't want to disrespect my neighbors but I don't think this is a situation of him not loving his dogs. It sounded like he was just baiting JW into elaborating on what he would do to his neighbor.
Yeah, I know he was being sarcastic colin. I meant a more general "you". Just something that irks me. That and the dog pens placed as far as possible from the owner's house, sometimes closer to the neighbor's home - depending on the way the lots are cut. Dog Screamer... my neighbor used to do that. He was louder than the stupid dogs!
:iagree: It's called courtesy. Bring the dog in. Mine are in by dark and when we are not home so they are not out barking and annoying the neighbors. My choice to have dogs does not mean my neighbors should have to listen to it!
Whatever. Like I said earlier, my dog only comes in during inclement weather. If he barks late at night, I go outside and try to stop it by food or whatever. But if you feel the need to call the cops go right ahead. I'll own up to it and deal with it.
The point is, no one should have to call the popo. The laws are on the books for everyone to see. If we have to call the popo to explain the laws to you, it just means you're ignorant at best, or inconsiderate at worst. The sad truth is that law enforcement in this county won't do anything about it. So Clif is right, I don't advise calling them. I would ask this person very firmly, but politely to learn the laws and follow them. If it happened again, we would wage all out war and I would study them 24/7 and learn what it takes to make them go insane. No doubt we would both be the most miserable humans on the planet until the dogs stopped barking.
