I would recommend writing to your representatives and express your concerns with these two items. I know I will be. The last thing we need in this economy is more tax. I can't say I'm surprised with it since it is their (Dems) way.

The only problem with that is that all our (JoCo) reps and our senator are Republicans....and they are always opposed to the tax and spend ways of the democrats that control this state.

Why don't you volunteer to pay more tax and let those of us opposed to the democrats plans pay less?

Sure, give them a call. I'll be willing to bet that most will actually give you the courtesy of waiting until they hang up before they burst out laughing at you.

It's the same way every election cycle. Y'all complain about the high taxes and the fact that no one in Raleigh gives a rip about the people, and yet, every blasted election cycle, y'all vote them back in.

Y'all get no sympathy from me.

Unemployment going up, illegal immigrants everywhere, education going downhill and now they want to raise our taxes. What happen with all that lottery money that was supposed to make schools so much better? Why is this state with so many good high paying jobs and military bases having so much trouble balancing its budget? Please tell me which party has been in charge of this state forever? Makes you wonder...

Not looking for your sympathy and for the record I didn't vote for them and I'm sure newlifetaxidermy didn't either. either way I'm contacting them and voicing my concern. One thing is for sure; if we don't call they won't know how we feel.

Funny you mention the peanut farmer. Remember his days of 20% mortgages and 15% inflation....Obama may give those numbers a run for the money...a real threat to the carter legacy.....

This election has reminded me of an old saying my grandmother used to lecture me on -- 'be careful what you wish for, you just might get it'. Some folks voted along racial lines, I actually understand their reasons and have no issue with said vote. Others voted strictly against the Republican candidate, again I can understand that vote. However, a lot of people voted for 'change', I'm just not convinced, as a populous, we have a good idea of what that change is truly going to be in its entirety and I fear it could come full circle to bite all in the back side. Time will tell, the election is over and it's time to move forward -- I just hope Obama is smarter than many folks give him credit for and will not do anything to impact an already faltering economy in a negative way. Taxes are certainly not the way out of this mess, nor do I think we should be bailing out every Tom, Dick, and Harry who fears of bankruptcy but I do believe we can control/reduce spending on many gov't programs, eliminate some entirely, freeze any/all new programs for now, and reduce the size of gov't as a whole. Unfortunately, I do not believe that is the path our president-elect believes in and that is what concerns me most.

So you think the budget short fall would not have to be made up if the Democrats had not won the election? Or are you just drifting off the topic of the thread?

First off the topic of the thread is a sarcastic "thank you" for voting Democrat and, as such, increasing taxes. So I must ask, are you now drifting off topic by attempting to suggest that my comment is off topic, or are you going to stay on topic and add to the sarcastic thank you's as well?

I think, if Republicans were elected in to office in NC, there would be a much better chance that the shortfall would be reduced by removing unnecessary programs rather than raising taxes. I can't say for sure, of course, but based on history, I don't think a change would do any worse than what the Democrat leadership has done to us so far.
