Hell YEAH! I'm all for it!!! BUT the members of your FAMILY have to be on board. :boxing: Some of *us* understand what's going on and our BF/GF/Spouse just aren't on board. so... how do you get the other people in your family/household to get the concept? It can't be one person in the family on board and the other blow the bank account on a bunch of BS that they don't need? I've struggled with this for a LONG time!!! If the *family* is not on board, it will never work, no matter what.
I'd start by bringing them with you to this event or another similar event, like Dave Ramsey. Sometimes hearing it from someone else will help someone get on board.
If you go to the Clark Howard event, you may want to come a little bit early. I am doing a pre-show presentation with 2 other area couponers including Dan from Savvy Dollar. We'll be briefly talking about couponing, meal planning and having a little fun. Our warm up gig starts about 12:45. Cleo (and anyone else who attends), please come say hi afterwards. I'll be at a Smart Spending table somewhere in the lobby after Clark is finished. I am really looking forward to meeting Clark! Faye
Hey HG, You definitely have your hands full. I am so grateful DH and I are on the same page when it comes to money. Come up with some figures showing him how much you could have for retirement if he slowed the wallet drain vs how much you won't have because he likes to spend. I can't imagine that we are going to be able to count on social security by then. Bankrate.com has some great online calculators that will show you how much you will have in 30 years if you save X amount of money starting now. My hubby and I like to play with the mortgage amortization calculator. We play the "Let's see how soon we can pay off the mortgage if we put this much extra in each month" game. Bring hubby to Clark - it's free! Faye
definitely will, and wow, it really has been forever, can't wait to see you speak:hurray::hurray::hurray:
I have four tickets to the Clark Howard event, but just found out that we won't be able to go. They are balcony seats. If anyone wants them, drop me a pm and they are yours!
So, who went? I did. I wish some folks hadn't wasted precious question time with marriage proposals, and "I know you said this on the radio, but is it true?" followed up by "I just want to expand on her question... is it true?"
