Has anyone downloaded Internet Explorer 8? Every time I open my computer a window pops up wanting me to download. I'm not sure what this will do to my desktop or homepage. I don't want it to change them. Will it?? I just keep clicking on 'remind me later'. Thanks
I'm running IE 8 at home. I didn't notice much difference between that and IE 7 in terms of the experience, but there are a couple of nice features, like if you close a tab by mistake, and then open a new tab, it lists websites that you've closed out of during the session and you can just click to re-open it.
I've had IE 8 crash 3 computers at home, and we have had 4-5 crash at work. We also have 5-6 at work running it fine. My personal advise is to stay away from it as long as you can.
IE8 is good. much faster than ie7 was. It shouldn't change your settings too much on installing, as far as i know. I know on first run it'll have an intro screen on one tab, but i don't think that'll effect your home settings. I don't use it frequently, but i do have it installed for when FX/Chrome can't do the job. FX- Good primary browser. Chrome- Secondary browser, perfect for services like gmail that you might want running constantly but cause memory leaks in firefox. IE8- Because often web developers aren't smart enough to write conforming code, and resort to proprietary tags and syntax.
Is there anyway to get rid of it? O got my DSL hooked up Monday, and as soon as it tuned on, It update all the Windows stuff that took too long w/ dialup. I installed everything except the IE 8 becasue I've heard so many bad things about it. Now, every time I turn on the computer it asks if I want to install it, and my only choices are Install or Cancel. Can I go somewhere and delete the downloaded file so I don't have to click Cancel every time? I do plan on getting Firefox when I have some time to sit down and figure out how to do that and how it works . I have one thing to say about DSL -zoom, zoom!!!
They use deprecated tags for those still using IE6 (something like 25% of users). It's not necessarily lazy web developers, they're using the lowest common browser. Developers need to force the upgrade. After they can get everyone on at least IE7, it'll be a happier world. Anyways... My vote's for Firefox.
On a side note I use IE 7 for those apps that just won't either run or run correctly in other browsers. As for my primary browser I use Opera.
