a virus or something took over my ie explorer! it's sending me to buy "personal antivirus" at site stopmalwaredomains.com. If I use google chrome browser I have no problems. That's how i'm posting here. How do I fix this?
I believe Microsoft has filed a lawsuit against these folks this week for this problem. You need to use a program to scrub this stuff out and a program to block it. Another solutions don't use IE
thanks, I used to use firefox. my hd crashed a couple of weeks ago, so I'm not back to 100% yet. also, I switched from vista, back to xp when they replaced my drive. Is this solely an explore issue, or is this code affecting the computer elsewhere? Many thanks for the quick responses!
Download malwarebytes anti-malware from malwarebytes.org. Run the quick scan and follow the directions. It is fast and usually will clean out this stuff painlessly.
I really need to THANK YOU, I read your post and decided to try anti-malware scan. You should have seen the list of infections it found and removed. I have AVG running on my system, it doesn't seem like they are hitting it!!!
if you are using the free version of AVG it doesn't target malware. That is why it's best to run a couple of programs such as AVG and Malwarebytes instead of just relying on one catch all program, as I have yet to see a total catch all program that works as good as single products.
I've switched away from AVG after testing it with the Eicar test string. I don't know if it was just my copy, or if AVG doesn't support the Eicar string, but watching it do nothing about it at all pretty much solidified my switch to "Avast!" free.
