Got a flyer today from CenturyLink. Used ot be Embarq, I guess.

$29.95 for broadband with no phone service necessary. 1.5 mbps, dedicated although not guaranteed.

Anyone have experience with this? I would love to have a reason to tell TWC to stuff it.

Sid note: 12 month contract required with $99 cancel fee. I got the offer today and it expires on the 31st...go figure.

Centurylink standard price for 1.5 Mbps is $34.95.

Roadrunner standard price for 1.5 Mbps is $37.95.

I got one with an expiration date of 3/31/10, but I tossed it. I'm doing much better than 1.5 Mbps with Roadrunner.

But it would be better if the connection is not shared w/ your neighbors like cable internet. Is it shared?

I can't be those cartoon-voiced little kids at Modern Warfare 2 when my connection slows.

Anything coming on the phone line (dial-up, DSL, etc.) is an individual line for just that house.

Cable is on a shared line for a certain neighborhood, area, etc.

Along these lines I have been recently getting annoying message when browsing. Here's the issue:

Arbitrary pages will not load. There is no rhyme or reason and it comes and goes. I get 'cannot find server' from Firefox or IE. I have 756 kbps from TWC to a NetGear router to a laptop. Worked fine for years with n'ary a problem. I did all the usual stuff like sever my connection and reinstate it, unplugged the modem and router, shut down my firewall for a minute or two, etc. Called TWC and they did their little sad speed test and pinged my mode a couple of times. I also connected the laptop directly to the modem so I know it is not the router. When I reconnect it seems to work better for a little while, but the regresses again. Any other ideas?

I think it is TWC's issue, but you know how that goes.

    COD MW2

Do you play on PS3 or Xbox?

    I play on XBOX 360.

I couldn't sleep and got up real early. Decided to play a game at 4:30 am w/ a full caffeine buss. I was like a god. I called in all my killstreaks with my first life.

My blog: I'm trying to get more info on it.

Did you have tactical nuke in your killstreak? My clan mate had something like care package, harrier, chopper gunner one day... and he got all the way up to 25/0. we were all so ****ed when he told us that his first slot was set to care package, instead of being sacrificed for a nuke.

I saw your article on the FAL (I lovingly call it the FAiL because the semi auto seems to get you into trouble when you least expect it). I love to use it with bling + FMJ + ACOG, and then have deep impact on my kit too. nothing beats the ability to blow up heads through walls when someone ducks behind cover. And an ACOG on a FAiL makes it a sniper rifle, imo.

Edit: Also, PC FTW... even if infinity ward did **** up on the PC version by not including dedicated servers.

I haven't used the ACOG much on the FAL. I'm trying to finish all the challenges on the gun. All I've got left are headshots. It's a pain.

I've never completely finished all the challenges on a gun on any of the COD games, so I'm obsessed w/ this one.

Sometimes I can't shoot enought w/ the FAL. Sometimes it's me, sometimes it's the connection. If I've got a bad connection I try to keep my distance.

I love the FMJ, too. Great shooting through things. I love watchin' somebody squirm when they realize the bullets are going through the wall.

Yeah. the FAiL is definitely worth going all the way on. When you get done with the FAL try out the SCAR-H. i went the other way (SCAR full unlocked first, and then FAL) but its a very similar gun, it just fires faster.
