quick Compaq question

Got a quick question for any of the tech guys here.

Wife has a Compaq m-6750 laptop that was working fine one day, she went to plug it in to charge and it was dead the next day. She took it to the Dork squad and they told here the power supply was fine so the MB had to be fried and that it would probably run her $300-$400 to replace the MB. In reading about various problems on this model online I've come across several possible options that could be the cause of the problem. One is a bad power plug on the MB another is a fried MB. I need to find someone/place that can actually check it out for her without it costing an arm and leg to do so.

One note that I did try was a tip to pull the battery and unplug the coard and hold the power button to reset the cmos. When I did that and plug it back in, the lights flash, but it's still dead.

    Any suggestions?

You better buy her a new laptop before she gets home and kicks your butt for messing hers up :jester:

    Hope that helps.

Ummmm....she messed it up and sent it to me after the Dork Squad looked at it for her. Which I can probably fix it without many issues, I just don't have any way to test it to see what is really wrong with it.

thanks Michelle... I know my girls look out for me while I'm not home... but he is right... it died and it annoyed me so bad to look at the dead laptop that I shipped it to him.. LOL. I have my moms down here to use, and then DH's when I get home!
