and keeps sending messages to everyone on my contact list and if they open the message it gives them a virus. I contacted hotmail but have received no reply. I keep running scans of my computer but it shows no virus.

I would like to keep my hotmail account, if possible, since everybody knows it and I get bills through it. Same thing has happened to my daughter.

We get hundreds of postmaster failure email everyday where more email that we did not send go out.

    Please help us.

    Sherry

Are the emails they're sending in your sent box?

If not, they may be spoofing your email address.

Either way - change your password...and make sure your new password is not a dictionary word or something that can be guessed. Use symbols, too - or even better - go to a site that generates random passwords.

Kill the email address now!! Don't put your friends through that just to keep your email address. After you fix your end, they will still be on the list for future bad emails. Contact Hotmail and ask them to delete the account now.

Run every free virus checker know to man !!!:) Spybot, AVG, Avira, Norman Malware Remover, etc..

I use the Avira scan software for my email attachments. It works with a right click on the file which is quick and a nice feature. It's also a full source checker. Avira_AntiVir_Personal_Free_Antivirus

Turn off embedded pictures in your emails.
Virus scan all attachments before opening them.

Try Gmail as a source for an email address.

Thank you. Already have a gmail address. Now, can I move my folders and contacts to my gmail address and can I contact everyone at one time to let them know I have a new address?

Darn it. Once I have that all done I'll have hotmail shut my account down. I contacted them about this a month ago, have been running sweeps and all but have heard nothing back from hotmail.

to start importing from gmail, go to account and click accounts and import, give it your hotmail login info, and it'll import for you.

Gmail doesn't do folders, so you'll have to shift your paradigms there a bit. You can get close to folders with labeling and archiving, but it won't be quite the same experience.

Thanks, I'll have to get used to the folder situation. I have imported my contacts now gmail. Can I send out a mass email from gmail notifying everyone I have a new address? And should I go ahead and have hotmail delete that account now or wait a little bit?

  9. Pour water in your computer to flush out the dust. Will be good as new and the email problems will disappear. 8)
