An Important Announcement to Our Forum Community After much consideration, we've made the decision to officially close the JohnstonCounty.today Community Forums on Saturday, October 24, 2026. Over the years, these forums have provided a place for Johnston County residents and friends to connect, exchange ideas, share information, discuss local happenings, and sometimes engage in a spirited debate or two! Along the way, we've seen countless conversations, welcomed many members, and watched our community grow and change. It's been quite a journey, and we're grateful to everyone who has been part of it. We especially want to extend a heartfelt THANK YOU to our longtime members and regular visitors. Whether you contributed hundreds of posts, shared helpful information, participated in discussions, or simply stopped by to see what was happening around the county, your participation helped make these forums what they were. While the time has come to close this chapter, we look back with appreciation for the many years of community interaction and the people who made it possible. The forums will officially shut down on October 24, 2026. If you have any questions regarding the closure, please feel free to contact us at jct@appcomm.com. Thank you again for being part of the Johnston County Forums. We wish each of you all the best and hope our paths cross again somewhere in the Johnston County community! With sincere appreciation, The JohnstonCounty.today Team
Well.... darn. I've been here for about 25 years (under a few different names) since it was 4042.com. I appreciate you keeping the forum alive all these years, and thanks for letting us know ahead of time.
Ever since I bought my home back in May 2000 I have been coming here as well. Also under a few different names. It will be missed a lot. I am sorry to see it go. Still not going to see the same debates on apps like next door. If you change your mind in the future please let us know. I can still remember seeing the signs all around for4042.com. I raise a cup of morning coffee to you. and thanks for all those years.
Well darn. I only got to engage with this site for a few short years, but it was a great way to get to know the area and a privilege see a small sliver of a long running community. Thanks for letting us know, and I wish you and everyone else who’s still been visiting to this day all the best.
Well that's depressing. Like some others, i have been coming here for years to find out about ongoing and projected projects for our area. Guess i will get by but it sure won’t be by visiting ND. It started out ok but now its all about ad revenue now. I particularily want to thank markfnc and jesse82nc for keping us in the loop as to projects in the area.
Sad news. Been here since the 4042.com years also (Feb 2004, it says). I guess because I'm old, but I don't like formats like Next-door /Facebook, this is a great format and will be missed. For the 15+/- still here I'll miss your comments and even though never met in person (that I know of) I'll miss you all, except the few I've blocked over the years. On Next door, no one reads the previous comments. It'll be "what's going in by Publix", then 45 comments saying "McDonalds" or wrong info, or lost cat, found cat posts. What bad news to log onto this morning.
I guarantee it's going to take me MONTHS to unlearn the habit of getting bored at work and typing "forum..." into my browser and letting the autocomplete fill in the rest. I like forums in general, instead of Facebook or Nextdoor and their never-ending scrolling format, but this forum was special because it was about things near my house, posted by people near me (even if I never met them).
That's probably considerably more work than most people realize. But if someone wanted, they could start over here for free - https://www.proboards.com/free-forum-features
