It is time to renew my subscription and I was just wondering what your expert thoughts are about these products. I run Windows XP. I have used McAfee at home and Norton at work. Both seem pretty good, currently both cost about 70.00. Are there other better options that offer the same services/coverage? Thanks for your help!

I started using Trend Micro 3 years ago and have never had any problems. Really easy to install and keep updated.

Norton and McAfee have become so bloated (and Norton's causes a good number of issues with Outlook sending/receiving) that I have been kicking them to the curb and using AVG instead. Much smaller, less intrusive and their pricing is better. I've been happy using the AVG antivirus/firewall combo.

I run AVG the free edition on WinXP. And periodically run SpyBot and AdAware (both free).

I used to run Zone Alarm when I had Win98 - took forever to boot up. Now that I have WinXP, I thought it had a built-in firewall. Am I wrong? Do I need a separate firewall in addition to WinXP?

    Nod32

Take a look at the following link.

It will certainly turn you away from Mcafee and Symantec's products.

I use NOD32 because it is a little more robust than AVG but for the typical user AVG is perfect.

    Happy searching.

I checked the control panel and the XP firewall is on. But do you recommend that I reinstall Zone Alarm?

Does the NOD32 software also block unwanted sites such as porn? I do have teenagers in the house and would like to block access to those types of sites.

    download bit comet

    install.

    go to torrent spy
type in "symantec antivirus" or "outpost firewall" or WHATEVER it is you want

    click on "download torrent"

open the .tor file with bit comet

file will download and voila you have your application

    easy as pie.

You should change you wording from "voila you have your application" to "voila you have an illegal sofware version" and "easy as paying a fine"
