MY ONLY WISH FOR CHRISTMAS IS TO OBTAIN TIME WARNER CABLE!!

Can anyone help me with this...when I call they state it is not available in my area. yet, I look out my window and can see the box on the pole. I even spoke with a technician on the pole one afternoon and he stated that we could get it. He gave me his technician number and told me to call and setup an install...Well they told me NO!! I told them what the technician said and they replied with 'I don't know why he told you that, I will have him call you' and I never received a call.....It would make me very happy if someone on here could assist me in getting the service to my house. I thought the distance from the pole/box was the issue, but the technician (ON THE POLE HE was doing service to the neighbors) asked if he could cut throught the field and I said YES!! It is my Father in Law's land and he is okay with that!!

    Anyone??

Good luck dealing with TWC. They are a bunch of idiots!!! I've never had good luck with them.

I whole-heartedly agree! I am going to have the pleasure of telling them to stick it tonight via telephone...if I can actually talk to someone! They went up by $25 on service for our package AND we have gotten crappy service for 3 months!

Here' my TW story. In 1991 (I think) we finally got that lousy cable (heck I've even forgot the name of them). I'm about 600 feet off the road, but they hooked me up, no problem. Got DirecTV in '95 and have not looked back. But when TW came and took over, I wanted RoadRunner (DSL was not available then at my house). They wanted $2000 to run a cable, put a new booster box in. I told them exactly what they could do with their cable. DSL has been great. I have many friends who did get the cable/RoadRunner package and they thought they were getting a great deal UNTIL the promotional period ran out.

We are not offered anything with internet out here. When the neighbors built there house and told us they had TWC I was ecstatic!! Come to found out we cannot get it...or we can...depending on who I talk to on the phone. I have had them come out twice by calling and then I saw the guy on the pole one day...one says yes I can the other says no I cannot. We have dish network with the DVR system and love it, but the DVR is acting up and will probably have to be replaced soon.

Embarq is our phone service and that is all they offer PHONE service..no DSL!! URGH!

Well if anyone can help me out PM me!!

I went through the same thing when they finally laid cable through my neighborhood. They forgot to put my cul-de-sac in their computer, so they kept saying I couldn't get service. I finally had to give them the address of a neighbor that had service, explain I was the same distance from the box as that neighbor, and they eventually put an order in with some department where someone comes out and "surveys" the situation. It's been a few years, so I don't remember the specifics, but it was definitely a hassle.

I got TV and Internet as a promotional package. The TV service was so bad I cancelled it before the promotion even ran out. I just have Internet, and went back to Directv. If you've ever had a Tivo, you'll realize TWC's "DVR" service absolutely sucks.

Have you talked to Embarq and they just do not offer DSL in your area? Because they DO have DSL service

Have you thought about Dockpoint? http://www.dockpoint.com/wireless.html
I used them until TWC got the high speed cable out here. It's much faster than dial-up, but I had intermittency problems with it. Something about trees growing and blocking the signal. Not my trees, I don't have any that big, but they would come and adjust the antenna thingie on my roof and it would be better for a while. I was really glad when I could finally get Roadrunner.

If I had a choice between dockpoint or nothing at all, i'd choose nothing at all. Dockpoint's service is nothing short of horrible.
