Which is the best beach for a day trip? I'm thinking one of the closer beaches, not a big scene, showers and facilities close by. Anything like that?
North Topsail has public beach access with a bath house. Also Surf City, but no showers that I know of. You can make it in under two hours.
The state park in Kure Beach has an area with restrooms, changing rooms and showers right at the public entrance to the beach.
Carolina Beach, which is about 1hr 45min from 4042 has showers and bathrooms on the little boardwalk at the beach. They also have puppet shows, music shows, etc for the kids at the the same area.
