Hmmm....never thought about that. I just went and checked them, they are 15's, so that can't be it. I don't know, I'm running it by a garage. There's no way I was going 14 MPH over the speed limit.

It's not the rim size, it's the outside diameter of the tire that will throw it off. Your speedometer counts rotations of the wheel, so if the outside diameter of the tire is greater than standard for your vehicle, the speedometer will read lower than your actual speed. Take it to a certified shop, and bring their report to court with you.

Unfortunately the one loop hole closed this past year with new laws is the excuse that "my speedometer was off" I do not think the courts are gonna recognize this anymore but you can try. Good Luck.

It's quite common for cops to come "backup" the other officers. I had one encounter witha trooper on Raliegh Road. His buddy joined him while I was recieving my speeding ticket. I waited in my car for over half an hour. And that is no exaggeration. I have never been asked to turn my car off though. Normally the Sheriffs are better about things than the State Troopers. Those are the ones i despise.

Roads I refuse to speed on because I know they are regular speeding traps:

Cleveland School Road, Particularly between Westview and Cleveland.
    Raleigh Road
Cornwallis, Particularly between Old Drug Store and Cleveland Middle.

What is trapping you? It's a legal posted speed limit so if you exceed it you are breaking the law, not being trapped. Why don't you refuse to speed on any road and possibly save a few lives in the process? I'm just saying...

Glad to know you're not speeding through at least some of the school zones.

I would agree that it is just a safety procedure of some sort to ask you to turn off you vehicle and definitely a tactical procedure to come up to the vehicle with their hands on their weapon.
My opinion on the speed trap is I think that law enforcement should be better at leading by example. Note just how many times you see law enforcement speeding and they are not going to an emergency. I don't agree that we should be able to speed beyond the legal posted limit, but that doesn't give them (officers) special priviledges to speed and then turn around and give others tickets for doing it.
I think that we would benefit more from law enforcement policing our neighborhoods ridding us of crimes, gangs, and etc instead of writing people seatbelt tickets. I for one also believe that for a society we have been snowballed into thinking that their are a few bad cops in the mix that makes the rest look bad. I think that we now have a few good cops and alot of bad cops that get an adrenaline rush from harassing the working public instead of targeting the deadbeats.

Do you actually follow law enforcement when they are "speeding" to see where they are going? Also, do you expect them to turn a blind eye to traffic violations? the Highway Patrol does not have jurisdiction to be riding in neighborhoods looking for other criminal activities. Please explain to me how doing their job is considered harassing? I would challenge you to call your local law enforcement and ask to ride along with them one time and see if your impression changes. Most cops are good people.

I would follow them, but they are usually driving too fast and I don't want to break law. Seriously, I am not that nosey that I do not want to follow a policeman to see where he is going. I'm not a stalker. Harrassing is referring to the fact they prey on the working class of people instead of concentrating on fighting crime or protecting the public. I know that is a broad statement and the reason is that everyone has a story about their life and everyone grew up differently. I could give you several instances, but without going into specific details, you may not have seen much where you come from with law enforcement. Most cops get a thrill about writing tickets for speeding. Have you ever been to the courthouse on a traffic day and just stood and wondered how much revenue our justice system generates daily? I have cops as friends and most cops are good people, but they are not good cops (good examples for society to follow).

Harassing? That's a damn joke. Laws are in place for a reason, just follow them and then you won't be a criminal.

I have family in Law Enforcement and they are good people and good cops. They are just doing there job weather it is a seat belt violation of busting a crack house. Again, the law is the law and it is there job to ENFORCE THE LAW, what ever that may be. It sounds like you are basing your opinion off of your friends who YOU say are not good cops.

I would have to agree that some police officers do use their position of power to their own benefit. I have been coming towards 4042 late at night through the workzone. When I was outstripped by a cop going at least 90 mph. My predjudices arn't really towards the JoCo cops but more toward the State Troopers. But either way, you have to consider how many cops speed because they can. I see police officers doing rolling stops all the time. I actually saw the cop that pulled me over for doing a rolling stop, do just that on Cornwallis and Josephine. So you can't tell me that majority of the cops out there are good ones. They may be great people. But I know alot of great people that are really bad at their job. Cops arn't any different.

Let the attacks on my behalf begin.:boxing:
