Has anyone else had a problem with gas taken from their tank? DH's car doesn't have a locking lid and he has noticed the last few weeks that he has had to buy gas more frequently. So he has been charting it and one day the cap was loose behind the door. So someone had been into it during the night. Police don't have any ideas but they aren't surprised.
Used to happen when I was little (in the 70s)... ...never thought I'd have to lock my car doors at home, though... sorry that y'all are having to deal with that... maybe you can get a motion-detector outdoor light? A big, mean dog? Shotgun? (kidding) (a little)
Locking gas cap. they could take it off, but really they're looking for ease of theft, not just theft.
I remember back in the 70's it was a problem. Everyone went out and bought locking gas caps and that seamed to work. They don't completely stop them, but it's a cheap deterrent. Mike
I put locking gas caps on some time ago, when I noticed a drop in mileage on two vehicles at the same time. No more drops in mileage, but I did have my GPS stolen.
No, but someone stole out lawn mower gas, jug and all. They even took the little gas jug that was for the weed eater. I hope they put it in their car, cause it was gas and oil mixed in that jug! I hope it messes up their car! I hate a thief!!
I could be wrong about this, But cars from the early 90's and up have some kind of restrictor in the tank, that is supposed to be a theft deterrent, simply because of that problem. Have they found a way around that? Other than taking a line off, which I know they are not going to take the time to do.
I believe they have something that makes it hard to siphen gas out. It's not impossible, just difficult. There's a lot of old sayings, things like: Locks keep honest people honest, take away my guns and only criminals will have them, etc. Theives have their ways of getting around any security measure. Hey WS, sorry about the GPS. I replace a lot of glass in doors because people leave them in their cars. That's why mine comes inside every night when I get home. Mike
Mine was out of sight, but just a random break in that found the GPS in the process. It is a pretty big problem according to the officer who investigated it. The biggest issue was that it happened in broad daylight in the driveway while my wife was home. It was not pleasant around here for some time after that.
Part of the reason I am getting a dog. I need something that will bark if someone is in the driveway. Neighbors dogs are too old to care anymore. 8) We've not had any problems...........................yet.
We have two dogs, but they bark at the wind, birds, squirrels, themselves and even us .... so when they barked it was not that unusual ... which was probably fortunate since beign that brazen I would not have wanted my wife to confront them or me for that matter since they frown on the use of deadly force to protect property.
I know! My last dog barked at her shadow (a Sheltie), this one is a mutt, good part mini shnauzer though. I'm hoping all the episodes of Cesar Milan I have watched will help, and I have his book. I want her to bark at strangers, not fluff, LOL. Before the neighbors dogs got old, they were quite intimidating, American Bulldogs. The do still bark on occasion, but not like they used too! I had a man walk in through my side load garage (door open, stupid, I know) a couple years ago and knock on my inside kitchen door, it scared the crap out of me, I have never gotten over it. Cured me of leaving the garage door open though. He was obviously up to no-good, I ain't buying Windex from some dude knocking on my door. :?
